A blind man on a galloping horse could see the lad had everything, he just needed experience and coaching. If was bored I would dig up some of our self declared experts telling us all how bad he was. My own brother was among them, though not on here.
Never be a footballer that lad...

Spot on. I never wrote him off but it was never guaranteed that he was going to “make it” at the top level. Obviously talented but that isn’t everything. Just ask Djed. Those who wrote him off because he wasn’t performing at a time we were bottom of the Championship were as right at the time as those who said there was a player in there.
I think it’s a fine line whether or not these young players with promise kick on or not.
Rogere was lucky Carrick was brave enough to keep playing him.
£80m on the basis of a good game v Arsenal?
Shows how mad it is in the premier league.
To be fair at the time of that thread he was putting in some frustrating performances (along with everyone else). But it's the absolutism of some opinions that's quite amusing. Written off at the start of September is ridiculous for any young player.Like this one ?

Absolutely robbing a salary. How can mcgree not get a start in the number 10 position.fmttmboro.com

I personally thought we’d let him go a bit too early and a bit too cheaply. However if we play hardball too much it discourages the next few young talents to sign for us. Very important for a club like ours that this doesn’t happen and we aren’t seen as holding players back.Quite a few of us were a bit unhappy at the fee and wanted the club to reject the offer.
Yes but that’s football fans who are very disappointed with a shocking start to the season, we had been in the play offs just a few months previously. No they weren’t, they were clearly wrong and couldn’t look past the results and the fact he was being asked to play in a position he wasn’t comfortable with.
They could of said he doesn’t look ready yet or he needs to improve or let’s see him after a run of games in his preferred position, instead we got comments like he’s sh1te, he’s league 1 or 2 at best, he’s Sunday league level, he will never be good enough, not fit to lace McGrees boots etc
No one was happy with the start to last season but the vitriol directed at Rodgers now looks embarrassing. The funniest thing is there are still those who value their own opinion so highly that they will never admit they were wrong. (This is not directed at you HC in particular, I have no idea whether you were one of these "experts")Yes but that’s football fans who are very disappointed with a shocking start to the season
