Middlesbrough v Bournemouth Allowed 1000 fans

They did. Clubs were invited to apply to be included.

Luton CEO has commented that they didn't have enough time to put the game on with fans and so withdrew their application - which sounds odd. Think there are some financial implications in having to make the ground safe and didn't feel the benefit outweighed the costs.

Fair enough given the outdated train wreck of a stadium they possess.

This whole this is so bizarre, with Luton opting out straight away, why have MFC not publicised their intentions prior to this announcement and why not have a press release ready to role the moment they found they were selected?

Can only see 1 of a possible 4 options.
  • First 1,000 season tickets sold will get first choice
  • Ballot for Gold card holders only
  • Ballot for all card holders
  • First come first served basis online.
I'm inclined to think it'll be a ballot for all card holders.

From what I gather from the comments from other clubs in the scheme they were asked to submit an application a few weeks ago but were only told they were selected yesterday. Thats how I read it.

Bet Robs name will come out of the hat;):p

Just to add a bit of context ahead of the club communication about this...

The test event was only approved today by authorities not leaving much time to organise things. So time is against the club in that respect.

Also the same rules will apply to all test events, in that only paper tickets can be issued and they have to be posted out. This means any tickets need to be ready to post out by end of tomorrow.

With the above in mind, they have to put a process in place that can be implemented quickly as possible.

Again with the PR and communications, if they found out yesterday or even an hour before public announcement a quick press release wouldn't have been hard. Stating the club's position, plans etc, even if it says ticketing hasn't been finalised. But now we're in a situation where we know they've been selected but don't know if they are participating in the test. Honestly it's really not hard this communication thing.

I've just received my voucher code for the Bournemouth streaming so even as a Gold Card holder it looks like I've missed out. Fair enough if they've taken into account people who've attended Cup games etc.
Trust me for choosing 2020 as the first calendar since 1974 where I've only attended league games!

They've not given the clubs enough time to sort this out. First come first served would be the only way to do it now.
Usually the case but the logistics of getting 1000 people 2 metres apart in a 35000 seater stadium shouldn’t be too taxing! Just look at some video footage of last season and see how the fans managed it. Job done!😀
