Mcgree surely the question has to asked now

Been told he's massively fallen out with Carrick.

Seriously unhappy that he wasn't allowed to leave during the transfer window

shame if true, we cash in or play him, he's one of our best midfielders. I just don't see Carrick as the kind of guy who puts people on the naughty step though, he seems a bit beyond that.

How much could we get for McGree? 7m? I suppose double and a bit over what we paid? Next summer we won't need 12 new players, the ones we have signed hopefully will have bedded in, improved, and have more experience, so it'll be a case of 2 or 3 key signings, and McGree cash could pay for most of that.

Not sure anyone is going to fork out £7m for him TBH? But you never know.

I am going to choose to think this is a lie.
Otherwise I might get really upset about a egotistical player demanding to leave less than a year after arriving.

He chose us over Celtic because the club sold to him that we would be a PL club in a few year's time and he would be a major part of us achieving that.

Hasn't quite worked out that way and after selling Akpom and pulling out of the Giles deal (also failing to adequately replace Archer) it's not looking likely to happen.

When he signed Akpom was out on loan in Greece, Giles wouldn't sign for 6 months and Archer for a year. He might wish those guys were here, but it isn't reneging on the goals that were described when he joined

We just don't know what was said when. None of us.
Until somebody is quoted then we simply don't know.

I would love to know Wilder's version of events, Warnock's version of events, what Akpom's version of events are.
But we're not going to get that. Confidentiality agreements purposefully restrict such openness.
Professionalism and professional respect should ensure that a lot remains private anyway

I would play McGree from this squad, but don't think he is that good. It's more a statement about the squad than him.
I'd be surprised if we had a big bid for him in the summer and even more surprised if we turned it down.
But of course there will be lots of other perspectives.

I was very surprised that he turned to Silvera before McGree, Jones, Greenwood, Rogers and Coburn.
I am surprised at that too, to be fair. I thought Silvera looked good in pre season and the early cup game but since then hasn’t shown an awful lot and he’s had a fair bit of time on the pitch. I’d be using Jones and McGree ahead of him at the moment for sure.

If he doesn't start tomorrow then I give up on this entire managerial regime. We need our best players in their right positions when fit and available to turn this absolute shltshow around.

we need someone to do what that Barnsley fan asked the manager in the fans Q&A

Whose missus is Riley McGree sleeping with to not get a game

Certainly McGree. Reminded me of the PL season when Karanka used to bring defenders on ahead of Jordan Rhodes even when we were losing....

As much as I hope Silvera can come good, his finishing has been pretty woeful and he's not who I'd turn to first to get us a goal.

If there has been a bust up with a coach / tantrum about a move / whatever..

The management team needs to sh#t, or get off the pot.

If you want to iron fist rule , or think he's not gonna perform to force a move.. then dropped from the squad for a few weeks, and see how hard he trains.
Popping him on the bench is neither nowt nor something discipline wise.

If it's not this, and management actually actually think either Rodgers or Silvera are better options in a 4 2 3 1 for the left in the 3 or the 10, then I'd suggest Mcgree has every right to be peeved.

He was an integral part of last seasons success, and neither of those are experienced professional who've commanded a fee beyond his worth.

I hate rumours like this. They're just far too easy to make up. McGree gets dropped, some bell end sees it as a chance to look like they're ITK, makes up a rumour that fits the known facts and it spreads and gains traction because it's plausible.

It might of course have some truth to it. It could also be complete BS.

It's not like he's been left out of the squad completely or not getting brought on.

I also find it hard to believe Carrick would massively fall out with anyone.

If he WAS annoyed at not getting a move then I don't understand that. I don't think his form was so good last season that PL clubs would have been queuing up for him, we're about his level. Nothing like the Chuba/Archer or maybe even Giles situation.

But I could believe it if he and Carrick aren't seeing eye to eye, purely as I can't see why else he isn't playing. He's our top scorer as well!

IDK, he's good enough and young enough that he probably had his head turned by the idea of playing PL.

It's completely believable to me that he would see the team whittle away from last season and not want to be left in a team that was going to be weaker than last season, and less likely to challenge for promotion.

If a realistic offer had come in from a newly promoted or lower table PL side (which wouldn't be unexpected), I could see how that could lead to him being unhappy.

As others have pointed out, the only way of making sense of him not being played is if there's been a falling out.

Prices in football are ridiculous at the moment, he had a relatively decent World Cup and that will have added to his stock, plus the good form he showed for us last season.

Leicester bought Harry Souttar for £15m rising to £20m after the WC last season, he also had a decent tournament with Australia.

Souttar had a lot better tournament at the World Cup than McGree.
