Liam Roberts having medical today

Good interview. Looks absolutely delighted the lad

Only thing that's missing from this piece is a few shots at the start of him holding a bottle of champagne and a comedy oversized cheque.

Just nice to see someone who is actually ecstatic to be here really. We've seen enough mercenaries over the years who largely saw Middlesbrough as a chance to get a fat pay packet. He sounded like as soon as he heard of our interest he would have gladly swam back from Greece to sign on the dotted line for his lunch money.

Its the right sort of signing, still young but with some experience. Top lower league keeper who is keen as mustard to progress. Like the three young signings we made in 2019 and 2 out of 3 were a success and we got our money back on the third.

27 yo and only 200 first team games in lower leagues doesn't convince, surely he will be the no. 2 goalie
I didnt mind Lumley, he had his faults, but hadnt had much 1st team experience, mind I think his MOTM performance v us got him noticed, but at 27, the same as Roberts, inhindsight will he turn out to be a better keeper out of the 2, given Roberts hasnt played at a higher level than present

Marlon Beresford had 15 one season I seem to remember and Randolph was 23.
I dont have a number for Beresford, which makes me think when keepers played that sesson 1997/98, they were issued with No1

Randolph wore No25 shirt, not sure if he changed his number to No23 the following season

Just watched a bit of the GKs training on YouTube. They don't half get put through it. It made me tired watching.

Seems to be loads of foot work drills in tight situations. I'm pretty sure Stephen Pears didn't have to worry about such things on day 1 of pre season training😂

@Pear-Drops, I would think my stats will be different to the clubs
My stats on each player if he plays more than once for the Boro he will be given a different number each time, the club may use his number the once, so the figure could be a lot less
@Pear-Drops, technically we've signed more than 1000 1st team players, 975 so far permanent & 109 loaned players, 1083 players in total, some have returned for a 2nd loan spell, when I've given them another number, some players have returned for a 2nd spell as permanant players, ie, Colin Cooper, Gary Pallister, when, again, I've given them another number
