Klopp leaving Liverpool

I wonder what that does to Liverpool this season? Lame duck managers have fared badly in the past.

I was inclined to like the guy when he came here, and in a lot of ways, I still do. He's very enthusiastic and charismatic a lot of the time.

Where I lost a lot of respect for him was his crocodile tears about the risk to players health and well being through playing too many games. He, more than anyone else, puts greater physical demand on his players bodies, and was happy to embrace the title "heavy metal football", meaning the intensity with which his teams play.

Whether he hadn't thought it through or not, I don't know. But it looks like hypocrisy to me: players were getting injured because of "heavy metal" intensity, not the number of games they were asked to play. As such, his "concern" for players looked like a desire to change competitions to suit his tactics and style of play. Maybe better to pick tactics that fit competitions, rather than demand competition changes to suit your style?

I know a lot of people don't like him but I just don't get it - I think he's a proper footballing man, a fantastic manager and great to watch. Of course he defends the indefensible at times (lets not forget our very own Mogga can do the same - remember Fry's eye), but for me he's brought a huge amount to English football.

Liverpool will struggle massively to repalce him.
Completely agree. Thanks for saving me writing out a post!

there's no denying what a brilliant job he's done at Liverpool.
1 Premier League, 1 FA Cup, 1 EFL Cup, 1 UCL, 1 Super Cup, 1 Club World Cup, over 9 years & most of that was 4 odd years ago, I wouldn't be moaning if that was Boro's trophy haul but I expect that Liverpool TFG expected more.

Sounds like he's done with club management and just wants a normal life, fair play to him.

Done an unbelievable job while doing things the right way at Liverpool, beating City to anything who are funded by a state and potentially cheating the entire time is some achievement. Even just competing with them is impressive.

Alonso. De Zerbi and Emery are in the betting. Brighton had De Zerbi sign a new contract in the new year which is what they did before Potter left. I expect it to be Alonso though.

The bigger shock is the whole back room staff going also. Interesting times ahead for Liverpool.

Surprising it is so few trophies won. Lots of runner-ups in his time there.

I can’t see Salah sticking about now.

Klopp is greag for the Premier League and has done well at Liverpool against the footballing globetrotters that are Man City.
It only bodes well for other teams.

TBF the only club that has done better is City.. so he's not done badly..

They have won every possible competition whilst he has been there, obviously not every year but that is some record and a fantastic achievement.
