Josh Coburn

It’s patently obvious the lad is nowhere near fit - he’s a pale shadow of his early season form, which makes a mockery of us not bringing anyone in up front when both Josh and Lath are injured. I doubt we’ll see ELL for at least another month, by which time the playoffs may be beyond our reach. I would definitely now be playing Forss up front as he is definitely the best finisher at the club - someone else can fill in that right side role until Issy comes back.

He is awful will never be a decent championship striker, his movement is shocking l, runs like pulling a cart and in the box has no idea what position to take up. Given he's the option we have up to it's no wonder mid table is out level this year

As usual, the truth is somewhere between the two extremes being posted on here - he's not a top level striker (and I doubt he'll become one, but we will see) but neither is he as bad as being made out. When fit, he's currently a decent old fashioned Championship No 9 as has been seen in the past.

He's obviously not fit and should be nowhere near the team at the moment - if he'd been an opposition player today, we'd have been calling him a complete and utter donkey

Hes excellent he will make a Premier league forward cant do much when hes injured. If he has a hernia he should have had an op a fortnight ago

I don't see it me. Don't rate him at all.
Just turned 21yo:
This season he has 21 appearances
993 minutes of football and returning 5 goals and 1 assist
198 minutes per goal (MPG)

Have a look at the championship top scorers

We were in for Tom Cannon in the summer.. he went to Leicester for £7.5m.. 2 goals in 8 appearances.. no one is is suggesting he is “non league at best”

Jay Stansfield.. another highly rated young striker.. 247 MPG

i really want to like him but he doesn’t suit our style of play at all. i said it in the summer i’d much rather see him out on loan again, and let’s be honest: he wouldn’t be here if we hadn’t lost out on tom cannon.

injuries haven’t helped him but neither has being tasked with playing at a level that he is very clearly beneath

Also spends too much time on his backside. I really want him to do well but I fear we’re all waiting for another Tottenham performance and it’s dragging on a bit now.
I think the fantastic goal he scored against Spurs has clouded judgement on his overall level of ability and quality. I hope I am wrong and it is the injury that is affecting him.

He just doesn't doesn't seem to show any competence and consistency for the Championship level required.

I thought he played well earlier in the season and I don't really want to make any judgement on him at the moment whilst he is clearly not fully fit. Useful squad member at the very least.

Have any of use ever had a hernia injury, the lad is clearly struggling, you could see him limping after 2 minutes of been on the pitch. I agree with one of the replies above, the club should really get this sorted for him. They cannot really have any excuses seen as we have just had another transfer window.
Not had hernias but had torn tendons both sides one year after another. Very sore
While I admire him for soldering on I'd have thought getting it operated on and back in a few weeks pain free would be better for him

He's started 11 league matches and we have 23 points from them.
The headless chicken without a brain has started 10 and we have 7 points from them.
Get Coburn fit.

Far too many other variables for that to mean anything whatsoever.

Of course, as always, you know better than the recruitment and management team at MFC though. What a plonker 😂

Groins (inc hernias) can be very similar to hamstrings. A strain or pull is much different to a tear. The medical staff will know exactly what his issue is, and they think he can contribute without risk of doing further damage.
I disagree, in that I feel he cannot contribute, and is ineffective when he is unable to operate at full tilt.
I‘ve played in (obviously very low level) important games with both groin and hamstring strains. Only full rest gets the condition sorted. A young player can probably live with this, short term, but I simply don’t see the point. If he was scoring goals and helping the team’s shape, I’d get it.
I also understand Carrick’s dilemma. Kavanagh was clearly not good enough, and we have no strikers available. We played non strikers and failed to finish our chances. Maybe he thought Coburn could get us that second goal. He must now know that Josh needs either complete rest or minor surgery. I don’t think we’ll see him for a month or so now
