India v England 4th Test

Playing like a man with a point to prove. The pitch has done considerably less since lunch.

But *touch wood* we’ve not gifted India opportunities. Grafting at the moment.

A man with an average of 49 with a point to prove.
Great knock from Root.

Wicket is absolute dog turd but didn't account for Ducket and Bairstow.
It's no different from us preparing seaming wicket that don't turn when we play India here.

He’s not had a great series by his standards and after the debate in the last test match around his 1st innings dismissal, he’s definitely change tact. Proving a point or whatever people want to call it, he’s went back to basics so far which is good to see.

I don’t necessarily agree on us preparing “seeming” wickets as an equivalent to some of these Indian pitches. If we done what India do, we’d prepare damp, green pitches. Some of the pitches in India are extreme. They had a pitch rated poor by the ICC last March vs. Australia.

I think that generally speaking, we tend to get good cricket wickets in England. It might seem on day one, flatten out for days 2-3 and then spin comes into the game more on days 4-5.

That’s not always been the case but certainly in recent history.

Weather and overhead conditions play a bigger part in England.

I don't think it's the same. Even when England produce a greener wicket, it will always be playable from the start. Groundsmen are judged on producing wickets that give the batsmen and bowlers something to work with in England. We don't like wickets that are too flat and give the batsmen it to easy, but we don't produce this turd

Root has kept us in it, dont throw it away in the morning and hopefully get up to 400 and see how the pitch plays for India.

This is essentially our last meaningful wicket stand, and the two remaining batters are not going to last long on a dodgy pitch. Great recovery, and that looks like a reasonable score already, but when this partnership ends, don't expect much more!

A great turn around by England, thanks to Joe Root. Some good support knocks from Foakes, Hartley and Robinson too.

Right in this test match now I feel. The track should be a minefield by the time India bat last
