I have a confession...

Yet to score at the Riverside I think.

Probably suffers from playing better away from home: not the way to get the majority of your support on your side

SU pushed on more than most away sides, so maybe he got that bit more space tonight.

Second half he was absolutely excellent. I've dug him out when I've thought he was poor but honestly watching that second half I thought he was excellent. Some of the positions he was picking up was very bright and then the assist is top level.

I'm buzzing for him actually. It will do him the world of good.

Struggle to understand how people can watch us play and not think he is key for us. Same people likely who though Tav/Rogers weren’t good enough
Take him out and we become a far worse side

Some similarities with Rogers. Like Roger’s last season he’s created loads of chances, which we’ve not converted. Created two chances in the 15 minutes before his assist.
I’m a big fan of his, him and McGree are key for us.

I think I'm one of his biggest supporters on here but thought he was poor for the first 20 minutes, once he settled down he showed how classy he can be on the ball. Even when it's not going well he never hides, always shows for the ball and is always willing to try and make something happen even if it doesn't come off.

Unbelievable ball for the goal.

I quite like him. You could argue he doesn’t get enough goals/assists for a number 10 but I certainly don’t think he’s our biggest issue.

He has an immense eye for a pass. With a more powerful shot he’s easily have 5 goals this season already. Personally I think he was a bargain

His hospital pass in the first half nearly made us lose a goal too if it wasn't for Aylings wonderful defensive clearance off the line so he got away with one there.

Bizarrely after that we started to play and from that moment we were dominant and Azaz put on a real good performance. So that's good mental strength from him tbf.

It's not his fault if he's puts assists on a plate ,. . And they aren't put away
Much like tonight , he put one on a plate for ELL vs Watford..
Almost identical to tonight's effort
And an even easier one on Saturday..

Is this the start for Azaz?
The pass pass for the goal was pure class.

Fingers and toes crossed that he kicks on, because he has so much potential to be a brilliant player.

I've always said he's a good footballer. He controls the ball so well at times and is excellent at finding those little pockets of space.

I just feel he can be too casual at times and his final ball can let him down, as can his shooting. Summed him up a bit early on in the game where he showed excellent control with the ball, turned but then underhit his intended pass to conway.

It may be that it's been a confidence issue with him and that this will now spur him on to deliver for us more consistently.

Great assist today. I have always thought Finn Azaz picks up good positions in between the lines. Finds space well.

The problem as a team I think is that in an around the box we slow it down and let teams recover. Finn Azaz and Doak, despite doing a lot of good things, were the main culprits. One time I think we got the ball off them in their half and got it Doak on the corner of the 18 yard box. All he had to was slide it to Azaz and he would have had a great chance. Instead he took multiple touches/stepovers and allowed them to get back.

Just need to make quicker decisions around the box. Like the goal for example. More of that.

I don't dislike him, I've just found him very frustrating in recent games. As said above he didin't have the greatest start to the game, a few poor passes including the one that led to Aylings clearance but he got better and better especially second half. The cross for the goal was a gem.
