I’m so sad tonight

What argument? It's not an argument at all.

Please can you all stop it.

I posted this about my sadness and the detrimental effect seeing goings on tonight in London had on my mental health.

I don’t want to read petty squabbling about the wrongs or rights of lockdown rules, mass gatherings or policing

Thank you.

I so wish I hadn’t posted this now. You’ve made me feel worse than I did an hour ago.

Unfortunately the police have lost control of the country.

Look at the response to protests last summer. Those protesting against lockdown measures were met with the same response as those women tonight.
Or the shameful arrests and physical man handling of elderly protestors and scientists, no outcry then.

Or other various protests and gatherings over the past 12 months that have been met with nothing more than a watchful eye.
No they haven’t, stop being so dramatic.

Can I just add that this forum (and its predecessor) has been incredibly supportive of me over the last few years. And I’m very appreciative of that.

So much petty squabbling in recent weeks - particularly from certain posters who I won’t name. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to contribute without feeling sad, depressed and sometimes angry. I’ve even felt under attack on a few occasions. Maybe I just need to stay away from here. Utb

I dont understand why these women dont have the right to gather peacefully when other marches were tolerated in the summer

Football fans this week following Rangers winning the Scottish Premier League title - police escort supporters through the streets of Glasgow.?!

I’m sorry but they should not be protesting in the current covid circumstances . Is covid over ? Have the government rules changed? Am I sat at home for nothing ? We have all sacrificed so much over the past 12 months and the rules are the rules . This type of gathering is what propagates spikes and set us backwards. I appreciate they want to pay respects but so have millions of people who have wanted to mourn deaths of loved ones and couldn’t. Also it was equally a vigil as a stand against violence from men against women as much as a paying respects, let’s not kid ourselves, which by all means protest but at the right time . This just divides people’s opinions further.

I support the police breaking up this gathering - It's a pity they didnt act in a similar way with BLM and more recently, Ranger supporters gathering in numbers. All mass gatherings should be banned during the pandemic.

The question about their tactics and conduct is another matter

They did act in a similar heavy-handed way with BLM. They were charging crowds of teenagers on horseback if you remember? One of the police managed to careen themselves in to a lampost quite famously.

It was the EDL blokes that were nazi-salluting the Churchill statue who the police didn't pick a fight with.

Arrests were made at BLM protests. How short is your memory? Stop making things up. It doesn't help anyone

Cause trouble?
I don't understand? What possible reasoning could be used to cause trouble at what is essentially a memorial?
The people wearing balaclava and hoodie looked very much like people solely there to cause bother, gatecrashing a peaceful vigil, they were clearly baiting the police
