Homophobic chanting in the South Stand yesterday

People boo taking the knee in the West Stand.
What are you going to do about them?
We can hear them from the South Stand.
Its not just one area, even though some prefer piety to facts.
The booing the taking of the knee seemed to be mainly south stand but also other individuals elsewhere were doing it

As with the booing of the knee, completely shameful behaviour.

From the north stand it seemed to be coming from the south block closest to the away fans . There was quite a distinct between the chanting in the south stand at the RF end and the away fans end, unusually - which is why it seemed easier to pinpoint. Could be wrong so it would be interesting to hear from anyone closer.
I see the club open that block - nearer the away fans, when there is high demand - so it will presumably walk-ups and casual "fans". Unfortunately, its the only area to extend home attendance with such a huge area netted off for a few hundred away fans. Neither the West, North or East Stands have the room. Perhaps a rethink is required where we can accomodate away fans and keep the casual "walk-up" fans? A question I would ask is: are those buying walk-up tickets for blocks 56 and 54 Boro fans or "Casuals" on tour? Lets not forget - there are organised groups who deliberately orchestrate violence at football matches.

Hi chap.
See above.
An example of my post above was the Millwall game last season.
There were groups of men with no colours goading Millwall fans.
Do we know who they were?
There were large groups of men in town with no colours who seemed to be in Boro for more than just football.
Be interesting to hear what Cleveland Police Intelligence have to say about it?

From what Borofur has told us - it was Block 23 - at least he heard ift from there.
You can hear from all areas of the ground - it may not have been from the south stand.
Lets stick to facts.
You seem to be chucking the paint pot around just lately.
That might be ok in the pub, but doesnt help us all to bring the offenders to book.
I`m sure most reasonable fans dont want to hear mysogenistic, racist, homophobic or other insults directed at either players or fellow fans.
It was coming from the South Stand in the block nearest to the away supporters.
I heard it from Block 23 in the North Stand.
It happened r00fie1, nobody is chucking anything around.

Agreed. It certainly was not from the North Stand. My impression was it was the South Stand closest to the away fans. Pretty certain on that as I commented on it, receiving agreement from those around me.
Agree with this. I'm in block 19 and it seemed to be the East side of the South stand.

Not you ya daft blighter.
Im talking about someone else.

I didnt hear anything, but with reference to my post above - I wonder who those people are?
If they are season ticket holders, it will be easy to identify them. If they are "casuals", that may be the issue?

As I understand it you can only buy an MFC match ticket if you have a 'buying history'.

It happens every time we play a London club and every time a team takes the knee, it’s embarrassing but we have always had our fair share of knuckle draggers.

Blocks 56 and 57 have plenty of seats available for ther Reading match. It might be worth pointing the CCTV at the line to identify any people behaving unreasonably?
Blocks 58/59/60/61/62/63/64/ are mainly season card holders with a few seats dotted here and there. As you can see from the Ground Map above - there are no spaces left other than 56/57.

It was very clear coming from the south stand, and it was definitely more than just a few as well. It’s really sickening and I hope the club can ban the individuals involved

Those causing this are not ‘Boro fans’ they are homophobes and racists who use the cover of football to spill their bile. No surprise they choose the seats nearest the away fans to posture and insult opposition fans - who are not always angels themselves! From that stadium plan I would suggest it was some of the fans in Blocks 54,55,56,57, 42 and 43 that were involved in the goading and unacceptable chanting. As I say given their choice of location it is not too surprising.

At one recent game there was a caveman attempting to climb over the netting to get to the family stand?!
We wont prevent them from attending, but Im looking for a jar big enough to pickle one and find out more about them. (y)

I heard the chanting. I was in the North Stand and the chanting was from the last south stand. As others above have mentioned, it seemed to come from those closest to the travelling supporters.

It's depressing this happens. It hits me hard because my brother is gay. He was born in Middlesbrough too. I live in London, indeed in Vauxhall which is one of the main LGBT+ areas of the country. It is something the club should address but as with the chants travelling Sunderland fans make, sadly, it seems there is an effort to try not to interfere with fans when it comes to certain chants.

It's ingrained in many fan bases to use the chant, it'll probably take a long time for the message that it's totally unacceptable to get across for some people.

Even Munich and Hillsborough chants are sang by thousands still, and there's absolutely nobody that sings those chants that won't realise that they're offensive.

I’m hoping one of these Vloggers caught one or two so they can be reported, these bigots aren’t welcome at the riverside. The club needs to exercise everything It can to get rid of these idiots.
