Glastonbury 2023

Ye he did the best he could but some of you are going way overboard, it's not Radiohead 97 lads.
As a huge Radiohead fan - I think they found that their popularity was somewhat diminished in their 2017 appearance. Times change but for me Elton delivered with a back catalogue of outstanding hits that would shame many bands total discography. I think he is past his best vocally, but that doesn't take anything away from his impact and the crowds response.

Will be interesting to see who they go for next year for the Sunday headline act to try and top that.

Will be hard to do

When your opinion is outnumbered you’ll find you’re probably on the wrong side

Like someone said above it’ll go down as one of the greatest closing sets of all time

I think you'll find I'm not outnumbered on that opinion 😂

Tell me you know **** all about Glastonbury without telling me you know **** all about Glastonbury.

Been twice (2005,2007), most commentary I’ve seen says it’s the best closing sets ever

Radiohead May have performed better in 97. They didn’t hit banger after banger. Probably the biggest crowd at the pyramid stage too

Much better than I expected, so credit to the old boy.

I was a little concerned about his mobility, until I realised the shuffling was him trying to keep his pants from falling down.

Found him more entertaining than those Frigid Monkeys.

Radiohead in 1997 for many largely saved the day, it had rained for a month, some stages were actually sinking, some bands cancelled (I think Neil Young and Steve Winwood were among them.) They had issues with the equipment but decided to play through it and got the crowd on side and up for the performance on the night.

The rest is history.

Dear me there's some people on here up their own rses spouting pretentious bollox - it's simply some blokes playing some songs for christ's sake

Anyway, there's only one band worth bothering with over the whole weekend - Generation 5ex this afternoon (y)
Just watched them on iPlayer, definitely the best band i have seen all weekend. Pure class, line up works brilliantly.

Got a soft spot for the Lottery Winners
Cumbria band and played at me sister in laws wedding around 14 years ago.

They were good and I had ‘that chat’ with them and just told them to stick at it.
(I’d emphasise, I was just been kind)

They have worked their chuffin socks off since. Got a bit of a break from Frank Turner and I’m off to see them headlining Manchester Apollo in December (some of them were at uni there).
They are thrilled to bits
Nice. Just a correction they are from Leigh in Greater Manchester rather than Cumbria.

Great 5 days comes to the end. As. I sit in the Campervan East field reflecting on the last few days.

One of the best of the 11 I have now done. On paper the line up looked a bit thin to some people. But it delivered on other levels. Personal highlights .

1. Sparks on Friday evening. Simply brilliant.
2. Rick Astley day yesterday. His Smiths set with Blossoms was fab.
3. Lottery Winners
4. Toyah Wilcox and Robert Fripp especial David Bowie 's Heroes on which RF had played.
5The Damned on Friday.
6. Generation Sex on Saturday afternoon
7. War on Drugs this evening.
8. Elton
