Giro D’Italia Chat (Contains spoilers) 🇮🇹

I cant believe cameras would Have missed a second crash. That fall in the neutral zone was nasty. 12 minutes down. Hes not getting that back.

A few of us have big dents in our FMTTM League aspirations now. I'm regretting swapping Vlasov for Almeida even more now.

It seems like the french commentators were wrong. I didn't watch all the stage but presumably they did and they only seemed to realise he was in trouble when he was already 30 seconds off the back of the peloton on the approach to the last climb and they assumed he'd crashed again because of the state of his top. I don't know if the british eurosport coverage showed more, but the italian TV cameras didn't show him struggling at the back of the peloton as would normally be the case with a race favourite.

Still no news of whether GT will soldier on. His tweet this morning reveals his frustration with 2020. Talk of Carapaz and Bernal going to the Vuelta for Ineos to join Froome so little chance G will join them.

I have G in my Velogames squad so pretty much done. I note the team currently in second place has both Thomas and Vlasov so cant imagine he will be riding that high for very long.

You're probably right, but remember the Tour when they were going with three leaders, then suddenly there was one. Brailsford is hard-headed and I'm not convinced Froome's place is safe.

No option really, I guess.
Shame about Yates yesterday too - didn't expect that

Ref the 'spoliers' discussion, suspect we are all happy talking GIRO as it happens.
If people like me miss the live TV we just don't come on until we have caught up.....

Very sad. He did well to even finish the stage, but if my memory is correct it's not the first time he's ridden with this type of injury.

Just out of nerdy curiosity I couldn't quite see how that water bottle (there were in fact two) could travel all the way down from that speed bump to where G collided with it. I rolled back the video and did some stills. Click to enlarge.

Even if he could recover apparently UCI rules don't allow you to abandon one race and go to another that starts before that race finishes, harsh considering the condensed calendar. So that would have ruled Thomas out of the Vuelta anyway.

Similar accident just happened in the feed zone now.
Regarding Gee, he's one of the unluckiest riders in the peloton, the 'typical Boro' rider if you will.
I think anyone who finishes the fantasy game with 8 riders will win it at this rate.

Haven’t seen the final photo - must have beeb a knats whisker
In fairness, Demarre has been on great form a decent effort all round.

BBC website is reporting a crash caused by a helicopter flying low. Wasn't mentioned on the highlights programme. Sorry but I can't post a link.

Helicopter flying low blew barriers into the road and caused a crash. Wackerman might have “broken back” 👀
