GB NEWS

My take on it is that yes all channels have an agenda, a bias, to some degree or other. But they are not all the same.

Yes BBC is a conservative political and news organisation pro-royal, pro-Boris, pro-'British values'. Yes Channel 4 is a bit left leaning pro-equality, prepared to challenge historical status quo. They are marginally bias news.

However with GB News, if debate doesn't exist, just unchallenged political monologue, no fact checking, extreme political views, that's not bias news, that's propaganda. Propoganda leads to extremism, dark times.

virtue signaling and selective liberalism
Convenient labels for the hard of thinking. E.g. criticism of someone like Gary Lineker (indisputably a pretty wealthy man) who has the audacity to suggest that we might help the poor or other minorities, criticised as "hypocritical" because everyone knows you can't be a "socialist" without giving away all of your worldly accoutrements...

More a case of you can't tell other people how to live their lives when a person like Lineker has no idea what its like to live close to the poverty line. Just like all the other elite footballers who deem it appropriate to signal their politics when in reality they are living life at the other end of the spectrum they claim to empathise with. A lot of elite sports people not all.

Yeah this is one of these weird things isn't it? Oh But Linekar has money so he can't talk about poor people. And he's a rich white middle aged man so he can't talk about minorities. Funny how the "FREEDOM OF SPEECH" brigade are very selective over who the want to speak freely.

I never got the argument that you can.be wealthy and believe in socialism either. The problem these days is the polarisation of left and right with neither willing to listen to the other, the average Joe blogs like myself are sat in the middle getting called by both sides. I'll stand up to whatever opinion I don't agree with but it gets tiresome.
Regarding people like lineker, people call him out because he's not affected by some of the issues he speaks about so people think he's a hypocrite. As I always say, it's easy to hand out the unpleasant medicine when you don't have to take it yourself..

Freedom of speech means you can critise opinions not restrict them, so lineker can have an opinion, others can call him out over it, ipso facto ,nothing wrong there.

I'm not affected by the war in Yemen, or oppression of ethnic minorities, fortunately (in this case at least) I aint wealthy so it is OK for me to speak about these things, so I would say this is merely an attempt to silence someone with a platform and influence to address thousands?

No point really talking to Spambot but I agree the "not affected" by things is such a weird comment when you think about it. It shows how some people think exclusively in their own selfish little bubble.

I'm not affected by homophobia but I'll happily get involved in pride demonstrations to promote equality, I have no connection to Hong Kong but I'll still highlight the breakdown of democracy there. Also I do the best I can to reduce the amount of plastics that get dumped in the ocean. Despite not being a dolphin.
