GB NEWS

I'm not affected by the war in Yemen, or oppression of ethnic minorities, fortunately (in this case at least) I aint wealthy so it is OK for me to speak about these things, so I would say this is merely an attempt to silence someone with a platform and influence to address thousands?
I would say he's using a platform that doesn't belong to him , if he wants to campaign about issues he should get his own. It's not about his wealth. Would people like it if a right wing person started spouting off about his beliefs,

He does have his own. You are talking b***ks.

But you lose the right to personal opinions that influence when you work for the BBC - thats how it works. But Lineker doesn't think it applies to him. Fortunately the tax man can have an opinion and in his opinion he thinks Lineker owes him 4.8 million quid.

Tax thing - nothing to do with this. Just trying to negate an inconvenient opinion.

BBC thing, same. Doesn't appear to apply to Kuenssberg or Andrew Neil (formerly) just to those with inconvenient opinions.

Munchety has been forced to retract when expressing personal opinions. Last one I remember was about Trumps racism and of course the flag sneering 'Likes' she withdrew on Twitter

It obviously did apply to Neil because hes now expressing opinions on GB news that he never did while on the BBC.

The tax thing yes - but its fekkin funny

It applied to Emily maitlis when she was reprimanded about impartiality. To to clarify, I have no problems with people expressing their opinions, but Mr linekar should wait until he's asked on an appropriate platform.

I must have missed his match of the day rant on behalf of the Palestinians

wintergreen is clearly and blatantly trolling now. Twitter (where Lineker shares his views that seem to upset the far right) is a free to use public forum so he can say what he likes. It's clear indication that pFC is just alt-right troll. Hence why I called him spambot. If he IS human, he actually comes up with more generic alt-right standard phrases than an actual bot

If he was doing it on MOTD you might have a point, but he isn’t.

Neil did not express his well-known leanings on air (as far as I am aware), though his bias was often to be seen in his questioning if never overtly stated.

What like Twitter? Or does he have to do like #45 and create his own platform (how IS that going?) before he can spout empathetic opinions about poverty and immigration?

Convenient labels for the hard of thinking. E.g. criticism of someone like Gary Lineker (indisputably a pretty wealthy man) who has the audacity to suggest that we might help the poor or other minorities, criticised as "hypocritical" because everyone knows you can't be a "socialist" without giving away all of your worldly accoutrements...
thing is people conflate believing in a pure socialist society with believing in providing social services to the countries poorest....they are very, very different things. Linekar isn't a socialist and most people in Britain are not, he's empathic and believes in ensuring we don't leave the weakest behind, he doesn't believe the country should own the means to production and everyone should earn pretty much the same.

More a case of you can't tell other people how to live their lives when a person like Lineker has no idea what its like to live close to the poverty line. Just like all the other elite footballers who deem it appropriate to signal their politics when in reality they are living life at the other end of the spectrum they claim to empathise with. A lot of elite sports people not all.
that makes huge assumptions on the people who grew up with, the charities he gets involved in, his family and friends. You can be wealthy but mingle with and understand the impact of politics on the weakest.

Just watching it now for the laughs. They are questioning if they can trust the data. The sound is echoing and it looks like they are in a doctors surgery. Now we are on Brexit talking about how amazing it will be that we can sell ceramics, biscuits, whisky and cars. They aren't mentioning that it might reduce surf board prices though. Missed a trick there.

In summery - it's still dreadful.
