Gary Neville

What was his point thousands are dead building stadiums in a desert

A awarding by FIFA that probably was corrupt

Quatar has an appalling human rights especially towards gays

The country has just been implicated in allegedly bribing European politicians

And Neville has taken money out of all that

And he is drawing comparisons to nurses demanding better pay

If that is the level of debate that Gary Neville brings to politics then I give up

It's not like it's an intellectual sham. It's just stupid

And I want nurses to get pay rises which is why this IS THE distraction
And yet you chose to support it all by watching it 🙄

It's interesting to see who is jumping on the 'GaRy NeViLle is A DISGRACE' bandwagon, rather than doing their jobs of, you know, running the country with a view to making the whole situation better for us all.

This manufactured right wing nonsense does gather clicks, and sell a few newspapers though.

Regardless of what he has done or who’s money he has taken in the past, his point is correct isn’t it?

I don’t care if he is a hypocrite or not, the point he is making is valid, not sure how anyone could disagree

Straight out the Tory playbook. He suggests that people should get a fair wage, ignore that point and go on a full scale character assassination instead

It's interesting that they all went after Neville, yet Keane and Wrighty were backing him up (rightly so). In fact there haven't been any of them going against it when a political/ human rights conversation has come up.

It's not hypocritical either, he opened his hotel for NHS workers for free during covid, which is a good example. If someone is going to be getting good money for doing a good job (which he does), then I'd much rather they highlight how fortunate they are, and how much we're doing over the worst off. It's better than ignoring it's happening. It's good that they're willing to pay him and get him on, rather than not employ him, and everyone ignores what is going on.

Sometimes you have to bring these things into the public eye, in areas they wouldn't expect. Yes, they're pundits/ commentators, but they're also human beings.

And? What difference does that make to the point that we should detest low pay here or abroad?

He doesn’t detest those who abuse human rights, he is working for abusers..

Workers in the UK can go on strike. We can join unions. We have rights in law. Workers for Gazs paylords? Its a thick as **** comparison.

I work social care settings where people died of covid for ten pound an hour. We have more rights and freedoms than those who are Governed by the brutal Qatari regime. Our industry, our staff, our work has values and principles that Mr Neville doesn’t share. I dont work for abusers and neither do my colleagues. We work to diminish suffering, and support the vulnerable. Mr Neville isn't. He works for lucre and his keystone principle is increasing his wealth.

He is coming across as an ****. Stick to commentating on football when the footballs on. He's good at that.

You seem to be getting extremely worked up about a person saying that nurses should be paid more.

It comes across as if you are trying to distract from the main issue to be honest.

If you stopped reading all the ***** the right wing press are posting about him, you would probably realise he is on your side, and the ones trying to discredit him aren’t bothered about the likes of you and me

I’m not for a second suggesting that workers struggles in the uk are comparable to those suffering in Qatar, which I don’t believe Neville made that comparison either, the point is low paid workers are suffering in both countries at the hands of their respective governments

You could therefore apply exactly the same logic to Gary Neville's participation, no?
Not at all because I am not getting paid to watch the games and they would go on with or without my viewing.

Anyone working for bein sports the Doha based sports media company then you are working directly for the Qatari state.

Bbc sland itv is different.

Convenient.....

It could reasonably be argued that anyone working in the public sector is being forced to work for abusers.
As services I work in are guided by the care standards act, the mental capacity act, the equalities act, and other legislation I would reasonably state that anybody who thinks that is a fool.

You may be more than a fool if that is what you think.

Not foolish at all. Nurses are being abused by the government, that's undeniable.

You can have all of the legal frameworks in the world, but if the services you work in are deliberately underfunded and can't therefore be safely delivered, you are not protected by those frameworks.

Burn out for nurses and other public sector workers is not accidental, it's deliberate and it is abuse. By the government. The employer. And so those workers are being forced to work for abusers.

You may be more than a fool if you can't see that.

A fool you are.

There are no UK laws that make abuse legal.

Unlike your and Garys friends Qatar.

He has taken money of a country with an appalling hunan right record towards gays and migrant workers to name 2 specifics

Whilst comparing nurses to dead migrants which he thinks is the same

It was the wrong comparison to make and the wrong platform on ITV during a game

He's not Mick Lynch and the right wing love him because he's that bad

He could start with understanding when to make a political statement and when not to

Maybe he should get a politics basics book that introduces people to how politics work
"whilst comparing nurses to dead migrants which he thinks is the same"

He in no way compared the two or said they were the same.
