Fuel shortage

So you voted for a guy who wanted the hardest and worst of all Brexit's? What's that going to achieve (other than screw up the country most, and hit the lowest paid the hardest), and why is that a better choice for you, and the North East, than Labour?

He's worse than any of them, at least Sunak sorted furlough out.
I already explained. I don't believe in spoiling papers so picked an independent. Couldn't even tell you what he/she/they/them looked like in a line up, nevermind what they were fighting for.🤣. Regardless they didn't win anyways, conservatives did, and look what continued to happen and people actually thought they'd do things any different.

Sunak's hands were tied with regards to the job retention scheme. Either he put money in people's pockets or the people would go and take things themselves with civil unrest never before seen in this country.

That's what hypocrisy is though. He constantly says I voted for brexit because I voted for tories despite me explaining why he was wrong. Now it turns out he voted for a hard brexiter and has explained why he didn't vote on brexit grounds. It's a slam dunk, clear cut hypocrisy
How is that any different to you exclaiming, Brexiteer = racist ? Do you not see the hypocrisy?

What that screams out to me is there's zero interest in being a truck driver from those from the UK, and hasn't been for years, even decades, and it's a trade slowly being emptied by those retiring and not refilled from new young folk.

I don't begrudge our young folk from that, as it will largely become an automated market, whether that's in 5, 10 or 20 years etc, it's certainly not a 50-year career. Our younger folk are basically using their better education and "aiming higher" or aiming sideways for something with more longevity, whereas those coming from the EU don't have those same opportunities, so will just take what they can get and work where there are gaps.

Obvisouly we've now shut the door, so this means we don't have enough and it will get worse and worse. So we will end up paying UK drivers and absolute fortune to do the work, and also import more drivers from the EU (on an absolute fortune), to do the same thing.

How is that a hypocrisy? Also its the other way round. Racist =brexiter.
You say its hypocritical when someone says to you voted Tory, ergo you voted for Brexit. (Black & White)

You say to someone else, you're a Brexiteer, ergo a racist (Black & White).

You are trying to hold yourself to a different standard than other people, and that just doesn't wash.

I'll be laughing my nuts off when the brexit lot get wind of us bringing in new immigrants, sidestepping freedom of movement and border checks etc, and these immigrants getting paid double what they ere before and what our average ex labour voter, now tory brexiter is getting, and it will be the latter paying for it with higher food/ fuel/ material costs. Brilliant :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: (y)

Can just see it on the next big red bus - Brexit: Double wages for immigrants, right out of your pay packet.

Yeah, of course you did, I'm certain you didn't know he was a hard brexiter, oh wait 🤔 If you had said you knew he was a hard brexiter then maybe I could have given you some credit for that, as at least you could have claimed you "won" the version of brexit that your candidate wanted, and certainly offered no objection too.

But, even if you didn't know, voting for an MP who you have no idea who it is, or their policies, even if they won't win, just says it all. Labour would never have won your seat anyway, and won't next time, but it could have made the vote closer at least.

Makes me wonder why you were one of the <1000 who voted for the hard brexiter, and not the other 10k who didn't vote tory/ labour but voted the Lib Dem, Greens or Yorkshire candidates, strange how you never picked on of those? You had 6 choices and 5/6 were offering softer brexit versions, and you picked the one who is trying to do the most damage.

But they didn't win so I fail to see your point.
I do agree with you on Labour never winning this part of the woods. Its full if CEO's, big business owners and donors to the Tory party but not a lot little old me can do to convince them to vote labour or green or purple or yellow or polka dot.

On the subject of the thread though I gave the car it's monthly dose of petrol today at the local petrol station. No shortages or queues.

Oh and a quick edit, why would I pick a candidate who wanted brexit to be done when I didn't take part in the brexit vote?

And after all this time and your continual involvement in threads about Brexit you still don't know which way you would vote if asked in another referendum or even whether you would bother to vote.
Sorry Muttley. I'll avoid the brexit echo chamber on here from now on. 👍🏻

The Boro is a lot more entertaining anyway. 📈

So drove around our local garages, 2 had a queues about 250mtrs in length, and another 4 were completely closed

Now have just over 40 miles left in the tank so that`s now for emergencies only and I`ve ordered the next weekly shop to be delivered

Nice if you`ve got it, good luck if you need it, but I`ll sit it out for the foreseeable

""EU lorry drivers have rejected calls for them to come and work in the UK.

George Mihulecea from Bucharest, Romania, said “most of the drivers left because of work condition reasons” and that it is not “worth it anymore” to come to the UK.

He added: “I wish them luck. They think drivers are waiting at the border to be employed in UK.

“Drivers shortage is just the beginning, the warehouse operators will be the next to leave.”"

---------

Doesn`t surprise me that they don`t want to come but is that last line a cause for concern?

Apparently it's worse in London and here in the south east.

I've just popped out thinking it's late so 'no probs'. 4 garages within 10 miles all closed with no fuel😕

Tank range is saying 46 miles (don't trust it). So it's finally starting to effect me after nearly a week.

I know that is supposed to be a joke, and it is funny, but... I kinda believe that may be happening!

People in Beds are a bit brighter we have settled down here quite a lot in the last 24 hours as everyone seems to have fueled up now.

I drove past at least 6 closed garages in Bedfordshire today. Drove from Cambridgeshire to Whipsnade zoo and didn’t pass a single garage that was open, apart from a busy Tesco in Flitwick.
