Whilst it's certainly not ideal needing circa 8-9 players going into week 1 I'd have confidence in Wilder achieving with a much weaker squad than ours.
When does the transfer window close?Think it’s the lack of foresight that this would happen. Allowing yourself to start a season with 3 first team midfielders and 2 strikers. Slightly shambolic. We would be pointing and laughing if this was up the road.
8 games into the season. When does the transfer window close?
I think Wilder's obviously been involved in targeting players and knows the difficulties and has already stated that we're waiting on clubs allowing players to join us. Who knows, he may have given the nod on the Tav deal? But yeah I'm sure he's frustratedTrue but the OP is correct with the thread title. We are being tipped as one of the favourites to go up, but looking at the squad now that looks pie in the sky. We all know goals are our problem, and that problem is no where near being solved, and on top of that we look like losing our best midfielder, who is influential both defensively and offensively, on the eve of the new season - if i was Wilder I’d be fuming and rightly asking what our recruitment team have been doing since May.
That’s true, it’s not possible to give an educated guess on how we’ll do until the transfer window closes. Our position as one of the favourites to go up is based mostly on expectations at the moment, but as the squad stands i think most of us would say we probably wouldn’t make the play offs evenI think Wilder's obviously been involved in targeting players and knows the difficulties and has already stated that we're waiting on clubs allowing players to join us. I don't think those doing predictions look that deeply really, it's a big waste of time, they should do it end of August really.
absolutely this and we'll have a fair amount of money to burn, in fact, Gyokeres could be back on the table, even at 12mMore than a month of transfer window yet. 99.9% of the EFL will do business beyond the start of the season.
Money to burn - very telling phrase! And we probably will!!!absolutely this and we'll have a fair amount of money to burn, in fact, Gyokeres could be back on the table, even at 12m
£12m for Tav is good business in my opinion. It’s £12m for a player who could leave for free this time next season. In addition, Tav works hard, gets through some miles on the pitch BUT also does not create or score nearly enough goals. Take the money and get 2 or 3 players who make us better.absolutely this and we'll have a fair amount of money to burn, in fact, Gyokeres could be back on the table, even at 12m
FOURTEEN OUTFIELD PLAYERS.
25m IN BANK.
EVERYTHING IS FINE.
I still think he is an excellent player and would have scored and created around 15 goals this season for us.£12m for Tav is good business in my opinion. Doubt it - probably sold the amount of season tickets( cards) he wants…..I wonder if Gibson will resurrect his once customary annual rallying call/we want to smash the league eve of season statement to cheer everyone up now
I've got a feeling this is more about Wilder wanting the money to reshape the squad. 10m, can go a long way in the championship. We effectively have a near 40m FFP headroom to work with, depending on what Gibson is prepared to spend.MT looks like he wanted to leave. Do people think it is a good idea to keep players who want to be elsewhere?
Oh, trust you to be Negative Nosmo....Doubt it - probably sold the amount of season tickets( cards) he wants…..
Nobby, run along to the shops and buy some more straws for you to clutch….Oh, trust you to be Negative Nosmo....
Except he never ever said that.I wonder if Gibson will resurrect his once customary annual rallying call/we want to smash the league eve of season statement to cheer everyone up now
we wont spend a quarter of that 42.5MI've got a feeling this is more about Wilder wanting the money to reshape the squad. 10m, can go a long way in the championship. We effectively have a near 40m FFP headroom to work with, depending on what Gibson is prepared to spend.
8m under last season + another year of the Monk Spunk year of the FFP window (5m) + Mel Morris Asshole tax (3m) + Forest promotion bonus Spence Fund (1.5m) + Spence sale 15m + Tav sale (10m) = 42.5m
