Flintoff’s £9 million payout

I wouldn’t be surprised if both parties were now under NDA as part of the agreement but it’s very clear that there’s a lot more to this story that the public know. He looks to be still in a terrible state so long after the event and wonder what the true extent of physical injuries were and mental impact after. He looks like he’s had to have a good part of his face rebuilt.

'apparently' (Internet rumour). He asked for a helmet and they said he didn't need one or he'd be fine.

That's why the big payout. I guess doing any job where the employer fails to provide the correct ppe would see them hammered legally and financially.

I believe the car was an open top one with no roof? No wonder the damage was so severe as he flipped it.

These are none professional drivers doing silly things in high performance cars for entertainment. It's hardly suprising.

Just watch any car related YouTube 'influencer'. Doing excessive speeds on public roads reviewing the latest highly modified car. Some innocent bystander will be killed soon. Again they ain't professional drivers and cars are tuned to sometimes 3-4 times more than they were designed for.

It’s a settlement to stop Flintoff taking them to court. He would likely get more than £9 million as BBC Studios have failed in their duty of care.

He was driving at 22 mph when he flipped the car.
Having your face dragged along the road at 22mph, with the weight of a car on top of you, I can’t imagine is particularly pleasant. He’s literally had to have his face rebuilt.

Several Crew on the scene have been off work with PTSD and the significant ambulance delay didn’t help matters.

Those roll bars wont do anything for a big bloke like him.

Also the insurance payout won’t be funded by the licence fee.

Not sure why you are trying to attribute the blame somehow on Flintoff here? His employers 100% to blame and they had an earlier near miss with Flintoff in another ridiculous contraption which should have been a wake up call.

If he asked for a helmet , and wasn't given one , then the onus is on him to decline to do it , do all the risk assessments you like , but the bottom line is its down to you , nobody can force you to do something .

I understand your point and it is valid, but the onus is entirely on BBC Studios. They have failed in their duty of care to Flintoff. Their actions will have been seen as negligent without doubt by a judge.
