First FA cup memories

The first FA Cup final I remember watching was WBA v Everton in 1968 but can't remember much more than the scoreline being 1-0 to West Brom. I seem to remember more about the Man City v Leicester final the following year.

The first time I attended an FA Cup Final was in 1977 to watch Man Utd and Liverpool. Liverpool had beaten us on the way to the final and were hoping to do the treble that season. Man U, under Tommy Docherty, beat Liverpool 3-1.

My dad had been given two tickets around 2 weeks prior to the final and was taking my younger brother (I had been to the League Cup Final earlier in the season). On the Thursday night prior to their travelling, the guy next door came with a spare ticket and asked if my dad would sell it at the game for him and insisted it was at face value. My dad phoned the hotel and got me a room and travel on the train. I was in a different enclosure to them but loved every minute of it.

I remember thinking I would love to see the Boro walk out at Wembley and that I would die if I did. We all know the rest of that story. ;)

The West Brom Everton one is the first I remember too.

1981 Spurs v Man City

used to love when the games went to a replay on the Thursday night after Top of the Pops

The man city Leicester final was the first one I can remember watching.
I cut out pictures from the paper next day and stuck them in my scrap book (which I've still got).

Chelsea v Leeds 1970...
Loads of memories of Boro in the FA Cup, nearly all bad!
Man Utd, Birmingham, Liverpool, Orient, Wolves etc

This was first one I remember clearly, sure it was only 2-1 though

Wasnā€™t it 2-1, Pearson and Macari, with Jimmy Case for Liverpool (I think)

My first memories too, Jeff Astle scored for West Brom, I think in extra time. Man City's goal was scored by Neil Young, after the Boro, City where, and still are my number 2 team.

Spurs beating Burnley 3-1 in 1962. Danny Blanchflower and all. The Burnley keeper dived the wrong way for a penalty which I found very funny. And I asked my Dad. ā€œHave the Boro ever won the FA Cup?ā€ We all know the answer to that one ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦and 61 years laterā€¦ā€¦ā€¦! Oh well! UTB!

My first memories of football are liverpool getting beaten 4 3 by palace and then utd being held to a 3 3 draw by oldham in the 90s semi finals. Then the three all draw in the final. This along with 1990 world cup was what got me into the game.

Mineā€™s Southampton beating Man Utd, vague recollection of Sunderland v Leeds, but that wasnā€™t the game just the view from above Wembley on TV. Watched it every year religiously, until 2002. First one I didnā€™t watch was my sonā€™s first birthday. Used to be able to name every winner post war, but last 15 years struggle to name the finalists. Was surprised to see this morning that City had done the double twice, used to be just Arsenal and Spurs when I was a lad!

game I can remember going to 1972 2 - 1 Millwall 4th round replay in Clive Road on my Dads shoulders 36,500 crammed in for it. Cup Final Leeds 1 -2 Chelsea replay at Old Trafford 1970
