First FA cup memories

The 1990 Final which ended 3 - 3 was a brilliant game. Crystal Palace has put Liverpool out in the Semi Final and had a team including Ian Wright and Mark Bright, so were a favourite of mine.

The 2001 Final was another memorable one. Arsenal easily the better team but Liverpool had peak Michael Owen who scored two in quick succession to win it. The winning goal was an incredible finish.

First one I remember clearly is 1977 when Man U stopped a Liverpool treble, should I back them doing a similar job again this year?

Norman Whiteside didnt someone also get sent off for Man Utd 1985?

EDIT the first ever red card in a FA Cup Final

Kevin Moran - remember they withheld his cup winners medal for a few days while they discussed whether he should get it.

1971 Liverpool v Arsenal. Nanna's Rediffusion Telly in Whinney Banks. All day channel hopping in the build up. Charlie George winner. Magic times!

1970 Leeds v Chelsea played on a terrible pitch, Big Jack s soft goal, Housemans equaliser (Gary Sprake, snigger), minutes remained when Jones gave Leeds what everyone thought the winner till a very late goal from Chelsea, can’t remember who (possibly Hollins?).

Chelsea won the replay at Old Trafford 2-1 after E.T. I remember Osgood scoring and Webb hit the winner, not sure who got the Leeds opening goal though, maybe Jones again. It was a proper kicking lumps out of each other contest, more of a playground fight than football, If it was played under todays rules the game would have been abandoned due to insufficient players remaining on the pitch 🤣

Another one for 1985.
Remember being football daft at the time and getting grief for not caring about the first ever red card in a final. Also not caring about Billy bender from whiteside, not caring about Man Utd and not caring about Everton. 😂.
1986 was one I was fully invested in as I didn’t want grief again but supported my favourite player in a Liverpool shirt - Ian rush

Sheffield Wed v Everton 1966.SW two up Everton win 3-2.
Famous for the Everton fan running across the pitch with a copper chasing him and falling over.Comical.

First final I remember at all was Coventry Vs Spurs. I remember Coventry's tracksuits had TNT written down the side. Even as a kid,I thought that was a bit naff.

First Boro match was away to Everton, 1-1 draw in 88 when they were champions. I've had a soft spot for Everton since then too, which is why I've not shared the animosity towards them in recent months.

Three stand out for me, not sure of the order and memory faded a bit

First final I remember seeing was Wimbledon beating Liverpool.

Also remember seeing MOTD as Sutton utd beat some big club in 3rd round in a yellow kit on a very muddy pitch. Think might have been Coventry.

Then there is Boro v Everton , we appeared to play them in a number of replays, a return leg under the lights at Ayresome, was not at the game but listening to it on the radio at home. I had to turn it off for bed with minutes remaking as past my bed time , at this point 2-1 behind … as getting ready heard the might raw of a late late equaliser from my bathroom whilst brushing teeth. Think a Parky scream top bin
You’re obviously of a similar age to me.
I remember Sutton United beating Cov. Coventry had won it two years earlier which made it an even bigger scalp. The two goal scorers even made it on to Wogan 😁

Also pretty sure they got thrashed 8-0 off Norwich in the next round.

Charlie George scoring for the Gooners in the final when they win the double 71 or 72. I was 6 or 7 and couldn’t understand why he didn’t look happy to have scored!!
Best FA Cup memory was watching the mighty Boro walk out in 97 a lifelong ambition I thought I’d never ever see. Pity about the game…..
