Eat out to help out.... it begins!

We are into week 2 of the Eat Out To Help Out Bonanza (EOTHOB). Anybody been out for bargains so far this week?

Nothing much yesterday for me as I had a free Sunday lunch for 4 from The Vault on Sunday (pretty good to it was). Just nipped into McDonald’s while the Mrs went to Rapps with her mates (mussels she had very good the report was)

I am out tonight though. Vadah is the visit tonight table of 5 at 845 looking forward to it.

Also got Cookfellas (gboro) booked for 25th and Central Park (Redcar) for 26th.

Other establishments will be visited also. Vadah review to come later

Got a sandwich and a coffee from Costa yesterday and the girl told me that if I took it away on a tray and sat down for a second then decide to take it out then she would give me the 50% discount. It was no hassle so did just that.

Went to Central Park in Boro on Monday for the first time, had a lovely hotshot pork parmo and my partner got a prawn fajitas with huge prawns. Very nice food.
Although the seats we were given were horrific, I'm guessing we were only sat up there because they were busier than normal, I've sat on comfier rocks.

Again, couldn't argue with the price.

Might try somewhere in Guisborough or Saltburn next week, done Redcar, Middlesbrough and Stockton so far.

Couldn't believe how big the queue outside Akbar's was as we drove past.

We've got Cookfellas booked tonight in Guisborough. Never had a bad meal there.

Pretty much everywhere is fully booked for the rest of the month. Great to see too (y)

People love a bargain. As a restaurant worker(chef) we've trebled our business on the 50% days which is putting extreme pressure on all the staff from the bottom to the top. Customers complaining they're waiting a little longer than normal even though they can see around them the place is full. People love a bargain, people love a moan. We're working 14+ hours a day to pull this off. Very hard work I'll tell ya.
Enjoy your discounts people but please don't moan you have to wait an extra 2 minutes to get it.

Yes. Trip Advisor should disregard negative comments on service speed during the EOTHO period. It is extremely challenging to meet normal service standards.

We tried to book Cookfellas for 5pm tonight but nothing available only afternoons. Off to Sergio's instead.

This has been a great scheme. We have eaten out every night it's been on. It's been quite an experience.

Wasnt anything high class but we were out and about yesterday so went into Sandstone Nab for lunch as they had tables available.

Its double discount as its 2 for 1 on the whole menu anyway. Ordered 4 meals but you only pay for the 2 most expensive. Then you get your additional 50% on the 2 meals you pay for.

For (2x) 12oz ribeye steaks, (1x) fish and chips, (1x) large mixed grill, (2x) pints of coke and (2x) pots of tea come to £26 total for the lot.

Food is typical chain pub food but for lunch and value for money it was great.

Ended up booking with Lemongrass for Monday.

Never had a bad meal there, so I'll be glad to have it cheaper.

Think I paid £2.50 for a double sausage and egg McMuffin meal and a flatbread today 🤯 Best of all it was air conditioned in there.

My girlfriend took me out for lunch for my birthday last week and they did it in the pub without even asking.

Like half the country I won’t be eating out at all when I’m made redundant or on a new contract. Covid has massively changed my priorities, spare cash will be going on investments and essentials rather than treats. I want to put myself in a position where I can cover the mortgage and pay the bills with dividends and investments and then I don’t have to worry about the stress of losing my job ever again as I’ve had 5 months of being told I’m getting made redundant or I’ll be fired and re hired.
