Eat out to help out.... it begins!

Haven’t used the scheme yet, probably won’t.

id rather pay a premium and go at a weekend, when you are talking
Day 2 of the EOTHOB.

Confess nipped into McDonalds on way home from Teesside Park as my daughter wanted a happy meal and I needed a snack.

1 x happy heal, 1 x double cheeseburger, 1 x cheeseburger, 1 x latte and 1 x medium coke - £3.60

Headed to Redcar with a mate to go to Ogradys as it was steak arrived at 630 and the pub had already been forced to stop entry due to full to capacity. So we went for a pint and rang back at 730. By this point they had stopped the food orders due to capacity and starting to run low on food. Seemed they had been at capacity all day and night.

So no review as was unable to eat. Not good for me but great for the business. Shows it is working really well.

I am off to York today. Toby Carvey breakfast on way. Should be pretty standard and dinner in York. Review to come hopefully

hope you have a diet plan for September

It will be interesting if it affects numbers for Thurs and the weekend? Hopefully not.
It might do but the numbers we have done Monday, Tuesday and probably tonight too will soak it up. Sunday will be busy as normal due to the Sunday lunch factor.

Looks like last night was busy in places again, which is good (y)

However, it appears Akbars in 'Boro last night weren't prepared at all going off some reports.

Some customers ended up waiting over 2 hours for their food, only to be given a wrong order. A few other tables left because of the waiting time, and there was also plenty of customers queuing out the door.

Your wife depends on you for spending money?
Hopes, when my daughter was born my wife stopped working to look after her. My daughter is 9 now, but my wife never went back to work, though she does have a small home business making celebration cakes. So yes I give my wife money every month and she usually has more spends than I do, but she never spends much, she is psychologically terrified of being poor, which is why I offered to pay for our friends lunch. Nothing sinister here Hopes, if my wife wanted more money she would just beat it out of me, and we do not have a shared personal account, just a shared account for bills.

It's all about organisation for me. We had everything prepped and ready to go back of house. Front of house ran a tight ship out the front, customers were happy and the maximum time anybody had to wait was the time it took to cook their food. Appreciate we are lucky to have the staff to cope at our place, likened the past few days to the Xmas period.
Businesses that are only focussed on getting as many customers through the doors as possible will ultimately struggle, the experience for customers will be **** and the problems you have mentioned will arise.

The wife and I are going to a local cafe/bistro with our daughter for lunch today, no point reviewing as no one knows where toddington is. I want to go to the Hungry Horse, but my wife is having none of it, too common!

Someone said they we’re doing this for a tenna but now they charge 20 quid. How can it be free, don’t you hand over 10

I've no idea, I'm guessing there'll be some catch like you have to buy a pint or something.
I'm not going to bother trying it as they'll no doubt be mobbed.

Weve used it 3 times now...

And so far, weve donated loose change to a charity box in costa and increased our tip in the restaraunt weve used... so everyines benefiting...

Until the government initiate austerity and higher taxes to pay for it all...

So ends the first week of the EOTHOB.

a more productive day today.

Breakfast began at Rapps in Saltburn. 2 x full English (1 gluten free) a latte, a coke, a cranberry juice and a milk. £12.00

Pretty solid effort. Sausages, bacon, toast, hash browns, mushrooms, tomato and black pudding... but no beans.

Quality of the ingredients second to none. A solid 3.5 stars.. marked down for no beans and maybe amother sausage wouldn’t have gone a miss

Didn’t end up going to York and decided on tea at the last minute. Would say telephoned 20 places all fully booked. Ended up the lobster - Redcar

Steak and ale pie with veg and chips, chilli con carne with rice and extra chips. 1x large glass of wine, 1x organic cherry beer, 1x coke, 1x cordial - £21 (2 alcoholic drinks racked price up)

Steak and ale pie. Couldn’t fault it, lots of steak. Pot of gravy on the side which was really nice and the veg was too.

Beef chilli went down well the Mrs.

Solid 3.5 stars too. Could tell it was all home made. Marked down as pie could be bigger

Cooper671 not been for a while but the Lobster always served good food. I like the Parmos(although Chicken when they should be Pork) and the Hunters Chicken.

Not sure how far and wide you travel from Redcar for your food or if you like Indian food but had a cracking meal tonight. Went to Shurovi in Guisborough. As I said it was a cracking meal and for me its as decent as anything in the area except for Varda and maybe Jamals(long time since I have been). Me and my son went earlier tonight We had...

4 x Poppadum's with pickles
1 x King Prawn Puri .....starter. This was exceptional
1 x Chicken Tikka Pakora ........starter
1 x Murghi Masala.............main
1 x Channa Pilau rice
1 x Chicken Tikka Korma.............main
1 x Paratha
4 x Diet Cokes
1 x Bottle of Water

With 50% off it came to £27.40 and was an absolute bargain. Had people well spaced out and there was a steady stream of customers when I went. They were still doing takeaways which I can vouch for as well have stopped for one on way back from Middlesbrough to Redcar doing the circular route.

Edit: Sorry as redwurzel points out the discount was 2 x £10 therefore £20 discount not 50%. Sorry if I confused anyone. Still worth every penny.

I thought the maximum discount was £10 per person so £20 in total for discounts for 2 of you.

******************************************************************************

Ref Cooper's calorie count - his coke was diet, so he's not too concerned and its only week 1.

I noticed Morrison's are doing 50% for the rest of the week - should be busy.

I never drink Diet Coke 😱

I bet theres loads of people last three days went through the drive thro at kfc and maccys expecting a cheap meal only to find you have to actually sit in to qualify

We went out tonight to a country pub near us. Treated the in laws for a birthday. 4 adults, 1 child. £88 Bill reduced to £50 which included a couple of steaks, fish and chips, 2 pizzas, sides, cokes and 4 pints. We ordered up as well because of the offer. I rarely get a steak in a restaurant because I can cook them easily at home. Great value and good for the business. Staff wearing face shields and tables well spaced out. Makes a nice change for a midweek evening.
