Eat out to help out.... it begins!

I noticed you ventured to Saltburn last night Cooper. Tried Number 23? On Milton Street?

Pizzas are incredible. One of the best pizza places around IMO. It's not exactly the cheapest of places, but definitely decent. With this offer, though, it's pretty much two pizzas for roughly £10

I haven’t no. I am interested in trying there but the Mrs is gluten intolerant so doesn’t leave her much options. Unless they do a gluten free base

Mae of mine had a pub meal last night and had to ask for the discount rather than have it applied automatically. Is that usual?

Our was automatically calculated last night and looking at others, I think most pubs are deducting the discount automatically.

No doubt you'll get a few dodgy owners trying to charge customers full whack and pocket the discount themselves...(n)

Fair play to the establishment we were in yesterday. The bill was crystal clear. 50% discount applied to food and soft drinks. Obvs the discount didn't apply to the two pints of Peroni I had 🤣. Going to try a tapas bar in Bradford on Avon tonight 👍

It's not just the chains doing different menus in my experience where I am, a few indy pubs and restaurants are doing special menus. most of the dishes are on the normal full menu, but they're not doing everything on the full menu. Makes sense to me if it allows them to get more traffic through the door and boost revenue which is after all the point of the initiative

I had a meal at The Buck in Great Ayton last week. Not part of the scheme, but worth a mention as the meal was very nice indeed.

Went out for a curry last night, automatically applied. Two courses inc mains, sides and breads for 2 for £22, can't argue with that.

The indies I've seen which are cutting back on the menu tend to be driven by staffing than any other factors. Small kitchens etc may make it difficult to socially distance.

Tempted to try Pizza 23 this weekend as well although Friday's takeout is currently shaping up to be the Thai in the square (Lemongrass?)

Day 2 of the eat out to help out bonanza. Certainly won’t be returning to The Spa hotel.

Post your updates. I will have another review today.

Any decent beers in your place Randy?
Aye mate. Fully booked tonight though. Could have forewarned you about the spa. It's been ***** for years.
Been another busy lunch time too. People aren't hanging around to get ***ed here either if that is a fear people have. They are coming in, having the meal, either 1, 2 or 3 courses and leaving.

To add to @changingman post, yes some of the smaller kitchens will have reduced menus to cope with social distancing measures. Our kitchen at work is massive though so we are able to fully staff it up.

Top head chef at the buck, did my apprenticeship under him. Best parmos in the area, easily better than anything manjaros does.

We went to Chadwick and Co at Barker & Stonehouse Teesside Park, the food was as it always is, which is top class, me and the missus total coast was £16, we normally spend about £28 so excellent bargain.

To clarify - I meant at the time the Eat Out to Help Out scheme was not live yet.

I don't know if The Buck is participating in it or not.

But yeah, parmos are great there and still had a decent selection.

They aren't. They are doing a 15% discount on food throughout the month.
Worried about the virus according to their Facebook post.

Nothing fancy today. I am heading out to Ogradys in Redcar and it’s steak night so probably do that. Usually £10. Review will be posted later.

Tomorrow promises to be interesting. Off to York so we are heading out for breakfast 1st and lunch in York. Possibly tea when we get back too. End the first week of the EOTHOB

Another busy busy one tonight. All booked up for Wednesday night aswell. Day off tomorrow with the kids then back in Thursday to fill all the prep everything up again for the weekend and next week.
Scheme is definitely working up here.

It will be interesting if it affects numbers for Thurs and the weekend? Hopefully not.

Day 2 of the EOTHOB.

Confess nipped into McDonalds on way home from Teesside Park as my daughter wanted a happy meal and I needed a snack.

1 x happy heal, 1 x double cheeseburger, 1 x cheeseburger, 1 x latte and 1 x medium coke - £3.60

Headed to Redcar with a mate to go to Ogradys as it was steak arrived at 630 and the pub had already been forced to stop entry due to full to capacity. So we went for a pint and rang back at 730. By this point they had stopped the food orders due to capacity and starting to run low on food. Seemed they had been at capacity all day and night.

So no review as was unable to eat. Not good for me but great for the business. Shows it is working really well.

I am off to York today. Toby Carvey breakfast on way. Should be pretty standard and dinner in York. Review to come hopefully
