Digital season card passes at the riverside stadium

I think the other question to ask is, as it seems that it isn't being rolled out on a stand by stand by stand basis, what happens if the tech fails and you can't get in? Do people go to the ticket office to get a physical ticket?
Probably but these systems are very reliable at bigger venues than the Riverside. There will be plenty pans and processes should something go wrong, however unlikely that may be.

They day my card doesn’t work is the day I’ll call it a day. Currently 48 years a Boro fan and probably 30 of those as a season ticket holder, done over 100 away grounds and God knows how many home and away games but a line is a line.
My view entirely. And in an age where live streams are very easy to access as an alternative, it appears MFC are setting a very unnecessary precedent.

Presumably the club will still send out the tickets allocated by other clubs in things called envelopes?
Presumably clubs that dont have this high tech "modern times" system means travelling fans wont have the facility to download it to their smart phones with NFC [?] on it?

I also want to know how people with ambulatory or neurological issues - who cant use turnstiles - get into the ground using the high tech on the turnstiles.
Will it be the same as now - a Steward opens an exit gate to allow them in. Will stewards have a mobile scanner to check they have the tech on their mobile phone to ensure they have paid for a season [card]?

Presumably, but equally presumably those that use digital could do it digitally. And more and more other clubs do. Our two friends in the north are going through exactly the same process. And for those clubs those of our fans who wish will be able to use this system. Which will be marvellous for me. Every problem I have had over tickets in recent years has been with paper away tickets. Non-delivery or late delivery. Where to have them sent when there’s a group of you who aren’t meeting up till match day/ at the away ground. How to deal with late changes of plan. Nightmare with paper. A doddle with e tickets.

I have experienced this going as a last minute replacement with a friend who had visited before a game in the north whose intended companion then had his train cancelled and forwarded his virtual ticket from London so at least it got used. With Boro though I have had paper tickets unused that couldn’t be and on one occasion not gone myself because it would have been such a chew on to get the physical ticket I had paid for. In that area at least this will be great once it’s the norm.

So long as no one is forcing you, and at present they are not, why would you deny those of us who have the tech and want to take advantage this benefit?

No ones denying you your tech. If its "marvelous" for you, then jolly good show.
But you, like me, are not everybody.
You commented "at the present they are not" - which means its coming whether its accessible to all or not.
Thats the point.(y)

I asked on Friday which of these pay-as-you-go mobiles has NFC and suitable to get in to watch the game?

According to the club, a smartphone [with NFC?] can be purchased for under £35.
Can anyone advise please?

Agreed. So as I said in the other thread we should be coming together to maintain that choice. To pin the club’s colours to the mast when it says it will do so. So that each of us can use what works for us. Instead of slagging off the other option as ludicrous.

I would advise that NFC stands for No F@@@ing Chance.
Can you buy pay-as-you-go NFC-equipped smartphones?
If I had to, it would be as a code on a telephone swapped for a ticket.
I wouldnt use it for anything else - just sitting in the draw and charged the day before to use as a "high tech" version of my plastic "ticket"?

You really do not need to.

Welcome to your new digital prison 🤨 won’t be long before required to do this for everything, like entering shops, pubs, cinemas, concert venues, literally everything. At first you will be using your phone then eventually you’ll be expected to have the required technology inside your body rather than the phone. Failing to comply will mean you’re excluded from what we see as normal society basically.
It was predicted a while back mind
Revelation 13:16

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Rob, you seem to know more than the rest of us about this: have the club told you exactly what the alternative is going to be?

If we're allowed to keep our physical cards if we want to then all this mess just goes away instantly. My concern is that we won't be, and there'll be some faff where ST holders have to print something off at home, or go to the ticket office and pick up a ticket for each game. The absolute silence from the club on how opt-outs will work doesn't fill me with confidence.

Roofie nailed it with "if it ain't broke don't fix it": I suspect the club do think the physical cards are "broke", and don't think it'll be as simple as them just letting some people keep hold of them.

This whole thing is about change really, change will always bring questions ..in any part of life.
There are so many examples of how we got from what once was to how it is now. You could argue that the once state of the art CD is now obsolete due to Spotify/ Apple … it was vinyl or cassette to cd to mp3 and so on. That was the journey.
The card that was once “hi tec” is the cd in this example. It really is all around us now and one football team probs won’t stop it.
I wonder if we get away fans using at the riverside and us when we go away to other grounds. My recent experience of digital tickets at Leeds arena was fine enough ( I had all 3 on my phone) , it was the only way to get in… people tend to comply when it is the only way …
look at TFL , just wave your card or phone over the barrier and away you go , the oyster was the stepping stone just as our plastic cards have been,

Im not championing the club btw , ihis was kind of inevitable.. when places have an over subscription of people wanting their product they can bring in new things like this .. it’s what happens at Anfield for example.

one thing I hope for is that companies like ticketmaster are squeezed out of the game because of it … perhaps it’s cloud with a silver lining if that happens .

Ok managed to get my ticket and my daughters ticket into my Apple but still not sure how transfer to someone if we can’t go. Can you share to someone else’s wallet direct from my wallet ?
