Darts

Must admit to an only cursory interest usually but been getting much more into it this year.

Agree though, crowd would do my head in so I'm unlikely to attend anytime soon but it's a very engaging armchair sport.

I play darts and have been to a few events over the years. Haven’t been for about 5 years now. Unfortunately there are just way too many bell ends who go for the booze and coke rather than having any interest in the darts.

I went to the PL in Liverpool and fights were breaking out all over towards the end. That was the end for me.

Quite happy watching it from the comfort of my own home or in the pub. The standard these days is mental. Really enjoying this year so far.

Went a couple of times to the Coatham Bowl to watch the UK open back in the 80’s, wasn’t that popular back then, had a slot on BBC2 I think.
I went a couple of times, saw Jocky Wilson win against Dave Whitcome I think. Following year saw Keith Deller beat Leighton Rees, in the final, there was fighting in the crowd at that one.

We've done Newcastle and Leeds, Leeds you couldnt get a pint anywhere after the arena spilled out and had marching all together shoved down your throat all night.

Newcastle had a better atmosphere. We had tickets to go and see Duzza but COVID put paid to that

What happened to the master bates? (Was that the Grand Slam which is pretty meaningless since the demise of the BDO)

I have been to the darts a few times, the best being last year when I was fortunate enough to have tickets for the worlds final through a friend who worked for the sponsors at the time last year. So got to see the amazing leg between smith and van gerwen, we were in a corporate / hospitality section and it was brilliant.

However traveled down to Manchester for the premier league about 7/8 months previous. And it was a total and utter nightmare the tickets were right far back for a start and the final two matches descended into chaos with fights breaking out all over, the tier above were throwing pints into the tier below a fella in front of me was hit by a lighter thrown from above. Would never ever go again

It's the yaya kolo song that would infuriate me. I hate it.

The darts is a firecracker waiting to go off ....no comparison to S, stand , getting madder just check some of the SM video's of PL darts nights

Was always something I wanted to do...go to Ally Pally...not now it just seems "the place to be" not people going genuinely for the darts. Maybe I'm getting old but rather just enjoy it from the comfort of the home instead of being in that mad fest.
Great to here Durrant commentating though.
Come on Barney!!!

Went to Ally Pally before Covid, loved it, I wouldn’t rule out going again, for me Barney is still a legend, done really well with the weight loss aswell, keeping it trim the lad…👍

It is what town centres have become on a night out .....full of clowns who bevvy too much & snort too much...........& some poor buggers who go to watch the darts
