Littler?

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

No way. Surely?

Absolute money grab move by the PDC. Pathetic.

The Premier League lineup is supposed to be picked by rank followed by tournament/players championship wins.
This has never been the case.

Top 4 are automatically qualified (used to be 6) and the others selections are classed as wildcards....doesn't matter what their records are.

They’ve always had wildcard entries
Yes, but those are still usually players who have pro tour experience.

I just have a feeling that playing in the PL is going to expose the lad, which is frankly what the media wants. Seems very irresponsible by his manager, he's going to have to miss out on players championships unless he wants to burn out.

Agree it might be too big of a step for the lad, as we have seen in past PL's that it can make or break certain players.

But I don't think this opportunity can be turned down....it would certainly be a hard decision to turn down.

Not being in the PL worked wonders for Humphries last year...I doubt he'd be a 3 major champion, and the current #1 and World Champion if he was selected last year (when he should've been to be fair).

Maybe the same happens with Dobey this year?

He’s already proved himself as one of the best players on the tour. He’s got his card, he was a finalist. He’s in the top 32 of the world and he’s going to fly through the rankings this year cos all of his prize money will count

He’s played on stage in front of a massive crowd, it’s not like he’s going the phased

Barney being picked in 2019 when he was going the other way and was ranked 28th was a worse wildcard pick that littler

Even durrant got a wildcard pick when he was ranked 22nd

Duzza won the PL at the cost of losing (badly) in nearly every Player's Championship he played in.

The PL is a spectacle sure, but it's not a ranked competition and in my opinion playing on the pro-tour would be the better decision for Littler's career long term.

We'll see, I guess.

He’ll do both. If I was littler they’d be no chance of me turning down a premier league place

He's already said he's going to miss some PC's
spot checked durrants 07 and 08 player championships on the year that he won the premier league and he reached the last 16 both times

Edit - gone back and checked 2020 and he seemed to be getting decent results, rarely getting knocked out round 1 or 2

Surely it's a win win situation....Premier league darts will probably get extra coverage this year and Littler gets some very good experience playing the tour and surrounded by such pros....who I expect will probably take him under their wings off stage as he's doing a hell of a lot of good for their sport at the minute

Similar thing happened with Fallon Sherrock didn't it when she got the chance to play in the 2020 season as a 'challenger', based on her becoming the first woman to beat a man in the world championships. She was the talk of the town at the time in a very similar way to Luke Littler.

the other thing to rememeber as well is he went to the 4th round ok the U.K. open a year ago and lost to James Wade 10-8

He blasted people out of the world champs too. Rob cross beaten 6-2 Barney only got 1 set

He beat 3 formed world champs in that run. He averaged over 100 in a final. The lad is a generational talent.

If I was a paying fan going to see premier league i would be extremely happy with littler being included

Saw the lad interviewed on SSN yesterday - he’s living the dream - gist of his reasoning for doing it was he may never get the opportunity again.

I wish people would leave him alone and stop finding excuses to have a pop. Ditto for the idiotic comments about his girlfriend, kebabs and his weight. It all seems so unnecessary. I for one have really enjoyed watching him over the last few weeks.
