Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo has always been Ronaldo first, team second. He's always been selfish, always had a million shots per game when there were better passes on. The team doesn't mind so much when that selfishness is still contributing to wins but when the team is weaker and that selfishness is costing you points then it becomes noticeable how a player not being a team player negatively affects the team.

Why should Ten Haag just let him go? He was the top scorer last season and they were struggling to replace him. They didn't receive any offers for him so for them to just cancel his contract would have been ridiculous. Imagine the fan backlash if they did.

All he is interested in is himself and being the top European goal scorer. What about show some class to the team that helped make him.
because they would get save **** loads that they have to pay out to honour the contract, and he would probably take a release with little owed to him so he could move where ever he wants to move too.
if you have no interest in playing him and the opportunity is there to let him leave the contract and save the rest then it makes sense moneywise, and I think he may take a free transfer, the fact he has done a interview slagging the club off shows that is probably his intention, if he would agree to just end the contract in the summer then he would of saved £26m for this season, they can still save 13m by letting him go in jan. I doubt you would recover anything more than this through a transfer fee

No chance. Would ruin the atmosphere and become toxic as it’s all about him.
I respectfully disagree. He's a natural born winner, won everything there is to win bar the world cup. Put him in that arsenal team who are currently 5 points ahead of City in January and he gets you 15 goals and the title.

Remember City nearly signed him before he rejoined Utd, it took a phonecall from Sir Alex to stop it happening.

He’s not the same player and is all for hismelf. Would be a disaster and thankfully Arteta isn’t that stupid

he will get released from him contract I bet, which means he can call his own shots where he goes if he is willing to sacrifice some wage to join a champions league team

Ten Haag hasn't really been fair with him instead of letting him go in the summer, when it was clear he wasn't going to fit in with how he played he kept him there until jan when they will let him go.
Part of me wonders why he would do it, I bet the board wouldn't let him leave until they got more shirts sold, by Jan most of the full price shirt sales will be done
Can’t blame ten hag, he’s given him plenty of opportunities, it’s not his fault Ronaldo has been playing like a 3 legged donkey.

As for the summer, if there was a genuine offer for him he’d of gone but all the big clubs turned their nose up at him. Rightly so.

City did not nearly sign him, the owners might of considered it but there’s not a chance Pep would have taken Ronaldo. He doesn’t like egotistical players that put themselves above the team it’s why he bombed out Zlatan and Yaya Toure twice.

Messi's goal scoring record is similar, they've both won trophies galore but on the pitch Messi beats him hands down. Better player, better team player
absolutely, I was at the Barca game vs Celta where he took a pen, and rolled it to the side rather than shoot so that his team mate could get a hattrick......no way on earth that Ronaldo would ever do that. Messi is a team player first

He has 1 league goal so far this season and has played over 500 minutes.

On what basis are you thinking he'd score 15 goals?

I'll have some of what you're smoking please.

I don’t see any Italian team affording him unless he massively drops his wages. Then I still don’t see which team would sign him, can’t see Napoli doing it, nor Juventus and the 2 Milan teams don’t need a striker.
Bayern maybe? But they said no in the summer so couldn’t see that changing.
Don’t think Real would resign him, they don't need him.

Portugal would make sense if the finances are right, but if it’s for champions league football that’s only benefica and Porto. Benfica you would think would guarantee at least 4 games.

Outside of that he’s not got much options.

TBF until this fallout in the summer he was getting a goal every 136 minutes for United (during the second spell alone).

I'm fed up of the whole thing. In fact I'd be quite happy for him and Messi to retire after the World Cup. I think I'd quite like to see Messi win the World Cup though if England don't.
Messi needs to continue for aslong as he can. Man’s a genius. Couldn’t give a **** about Ronaldo

True, but even with him scoring, you could tell Utd were so so poor when he was in the team compared to when he wasn't in the team.

He may have scored 15+ goals last season, but they would have been far better without him. This season has highlighted that even more so.

Jesus at Arsenal hasn't hit the dizzy heights of what Ronaldo does when it comes to goalscoring...but my goodness, he offers much much more outside of just goals. And because of that, Arsenal are looking fantastic as a team.

I remember the year France won the World Cup. Giroud was absolutely pivotal to that team and yet he didn't score a single goal during that tournament. I don't even think he had a shot on target? But it didn't matter because everything else he did benefitted the team.

Goes to show scoring goals aren't everything (although scoring is the hardest thing to do in football).

I'm honestly bored of them both now mate. They're both mostly just in it for the dosh now otherwise Messi wouldn't be at PSG (who I think will be exiting the Champions League in February again this season).

yeah I agree they need to get shot of him, but he probably is capable of scoring goals in the PL still. I agree it wouldn't be a wise move for Arsenal unless he changed his attitude and was willing to just play a supersub/impact role. Which is what he'd have been doing at City had he gone there cos there's no way Pep would have stood for any of this nonsense.

Where did the born winner help Man United finish last season?

I'll give you a clue, it was a good few places lower than the season before he joined. 😉
