Chuba Gone - Confirmed

Nice message from him towards the fans and Carrick. There was a real connection between the fans and Akpom last season that I can’t say I’ve ever felt before, at least in the last couple of decades.

I’m not that bothered about the transfer fee to be honest. I kind of hope this is a wake up call for the club actually not to treat players like they have done if they aren’t performing as well as they’d like. Who knows if Chuba wasn’t treat so poorly he might have signed an extension?

Wish him nothing but the best with Ajax, really hope he does well there and will be keeping an eye out for him in the Europa.

Really it should be in the rules that transfer fees should be out in the open and reported on. It being kept private makes it all seem seedy and underhand, rather than open and transparent.

The image of transfers is bad enough with suggestions of agents taking slices of the pie, it should all come out. The fee, agents percentages, add on variables etc.

Anyway, best of luck to Chuba, he earned his move and hopefully he makes a success of it.

The 'thanks to everyone associated with Middlesbrough FC' bit?
Heartfelt.

Glad its all sorted. Move on, I hate of all the speculation TBH. He's had one great season in his career and we broke the £10m mark selling him. Good business as long as the replacement isn't a dud.

Edit - that sounds quite bitter. It's not, I'd have loved him to stay and have another season like last year, but never mind. Hope he does well there.

This is my view, glad its all over now. That said, I wish him all the best and if I can be bothered I might watch his debut etc.

I have to say that I am a little disappointed with the fee. I do think its a bit on the light side. I wonder if it was made clear that he didnt want to stay?

To be fair to the club, we have had two players who the majority of fans thought were duds before their last seasons registered with us who have had exceptional last seasons and have bought £22m into the club when most fans were saying give them away before those last season's. If I am upset about anything it's not seeing Chuba in a Boro top again,
