Carricks refusal to change system

I think four four two or four four three is probably still the right system. Just need the players to play it better!

I think teams have sussed his system, and we don't seem to be able to adjust to this in game.

If a team set up to play against his 4-2-3-1, and he went 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 surely that would give us an advantage as the other team would have to change things from the off.

A 4-4-3 - it would be like we were playing with an extra man........👍

Personally from what I’ve seen it’s a case of who is not doing their job. You could argue that Dieng really had a great game because he saved us on so many occasions, although we all know players just aren’t preventing the shot or the cross or maybe just being short of how Carrick’s system should work. I also watched Chelsea play a similar style to us without getting a win so it’s maybe keeping the faith and hoping things turnaround.

From the horses mouth in todays presser. Said the system suits the players. I fear he's doomed if hes not prepared to change a system which is clearly not working.

What he should have done of course, the day before a game against our closest rivals was to come out and say ' Yes I can see that the current system isn't working so tomorrow we will be moving to 4-3-3.' Would that have made you happier? I'm sure it would have made Munoz happier if Carrick had told him how we would be setting up. Perhaps we should have told him the team as well, in case he needs to prepare for anybody special.

Maybe just maybe he expected the recruitment team to have recruited 12 players that might fit the system he clearly prefers, rather than have to change his system because half his squad can't play it.
Do good managers not adapt? How many top managers has he played under? All will have changed the system to suit players/opposition. The players he has are not going to change, the only change if results dont pick up is him! Does he want this job or is he willing to get sacked over his refusal to change a clearly flawed system? Times like this are what split the men from the boys and the greats from the chancers. Time to see which one he is...

Bangura and Engel are fit.. Smith and Dijksteel are still injured tho..

Dieng/Glover

Fry/McNair
Van Den Berg/Hannah
Lenihan/Clarke
Engel/Bangura

Howson/Barlaser
Hackney/O’Brien

Jones/Silvera
Latte Laff/Crooks
Rogers/McGree.

Forss/Greenwood/Coburn

Maybe just a wee twisteroo will be just the ticket.. there’s a few players that look more suited to slightly different positions..

Fry at right back? He’s getting forward plenty.. just gif that reason only.

RVDB at centre back.. he’s real tall

Latte Laff as an Akpom number 10
Rogers as the nee Tavernier
Forss as our main striker.. he can put a shift in.. also Greenwood looks more like Bamford than anyone else.. just his movement..

We’ve got super Michaels Carrick.. he knows exactly what we need.. Deal Fry at right back.. Marcus Forss in attack?

Our closest rivals. Good God where did it go so wrong!

There’s a difference between adapting and being unable to get much more out of average players

I may be alone in this but I thought Carrick was just sticking to what he believes. Time will tell whether he is right or not.

Tend to agree, I'm not convinced it is the system, it is more individual mistakes (at both ends).

With the addition of O'Brien it's obvious to me 433 would be the preferred system to suit the players we have. O'Brien has to start.
