Carrick needs to be careful

I think in many ways he's still living off that first season when we finished in the play-offs. Looking back at it now, did we simply have better players that season? Is it that teams have worked out how to play against us now and in reality Carrick is as one dimensional as Wilder? Is it a combination of both of those things?

I'm still behind Carrick and I hope we will click soon but if we don't win any of our next few games I can see questions being asked.
We fell off a cliff towards the end of that season and we were bloody awful in the playoffs.

In all fairness I think Coventry would have beat us anyway. That was effctively the first example of what we are seeing now from all teams. Basically the Mark Robins special.

He was a good player for us that season but so was McGree. We were third in the Championship when Ramsey signed and McGree had played in near enough every game up until that point and been a big player for us.
We were third when Ramsey got injured. We really missed him.
As Mayor Goldie suggested, I'm sure we would have won the play offs with Ramsey fit.

McGree is a good player - and definitely would be in my team from this current squad, but he'd lost his place to Ramsey back then.

At that point McGree wasnt first choice in the team.
Now he's be first choice at LW, no10 and RW and we are looking at him to spark to some life into is.

Carrick going no where and rightly so, in my opinion, of course.

Most of the comments since Saturday are reactionary and don't reflect how we have played in the first 6 games.

We were poor in the second half but Sunderland defended pretty well and were second in the table and at home. It was never going to be a walk over.

You are right, Carrick is currently under serious pressure regarding his position at the club and he shouldn't be.

Not seen many people at all suggesting he should be. There's a lot of justified frustration at the recent results and performances though.

I dont think its reactionary at all there are clear problems with side. Accommodating conway has completely unbalanced the side, azaz latte jones have either been moved positionally or are having to deal with Conway in their playing space. The left side continues to be a weaknesses game after game when possession is turned over.

I get the frustration. Not so much on Saturday. The frustration in previous games is because on all on-field evidence we should have done better. Poor finishing and a couple of shocking defensive lapses.

Carrick will tweak how we play to try and get a bit more from the forwards.

I doubt he will do much about our left as he hasn't in the past.

I think he'll do more than tweak our forwards next week. I think there'll be a big change to that front 4

Don't disagree with much of what you say, except it's not reactionary.

We have posters who think Hackney should be punished by being dropped.

This very thread title is reactionary.

I do think that Conway may have upset what little balance the side has but I think it's more to do with him being 1 more player contgesting the middle and right hand side rather than it being down to him alone.

He may but the approach will be much the same. I don't have a problem with that, if I am honest. I think it's been tiny margins and Carrick will turn things around as he has done before.

We musnt forget that there has been quite the turnover in players with new signings being thrown in due to injuries. 4 of the 11 starters were brought in this summer with 3 more introduced during subs.

I agree thay he won't change the way we play.
I predict 2 or 3 changes to that front 4 though.

Spot on, we do have a few new players bedding in and I do have faith in the manager, but he needs to look at things. It seems very difficult to get some consistency at the moment, this happened last season as we all know.

I feel that no team takes us lightly these days, and to say its a very competitive league is an understatement.
Perhaps we need to lose the slick tip tap sometimes for a bit, graft and force mistakes from the opposition, as the 500 hundred passes to memorize them isn't creating goals or even shots at goal.
A must win attitude and a bit of luck to start a run, v Stoke, we always get behind them but they have to get us off our seats from the off.

Carrick does need to be careful...not to bother reading the first 3 pages of this thread, unless he fancies a giggle at the perpetually doomed. The amount of pi$sing the bed going on in here by some is ludicrous.

Thankfully I hear he is taking the utmost care in this regard.😁

Having an opinion is fine and being concerned, it's when people go way over the top.
