Carrick Annoyed......

Carrick annoyed with the fans... was this something he mentioned in his post match interview? Not seen it yet.

Honestly, I do think some of our fans are especially bad when it comes to whinging constantly about players and the team. Like just negative to the point of parody sometimes, moaning on constantly, historically had a thing with singling out specific players to target and moan about constantly. It's very strange. By and large for the last, what, 6-7 months, we've had very little to moan about but still people find a way to go way over the top when there's even the slightest blip.

I think the frustration was due to how slow we were coming out from the back. I thought Steffen had a decent game but we were very slow tonight, especially when trying to build an attack. Maybe it was down to the opposition or it was something they’d been instructed to do to slow the game down and to try and control it?

McNair must have achieved some sort of record though with the number of passes back to Steffen?

We have come a long way, but we’ve been poor the last two games, or at least not where we have been recently. Need to put it right on Monday and go into the play offs in some sort of form.

We’re very predictable with our pattern of play building from back with no element of surprise. Tonight Burnley sometimes pressed us with a high back line so why not try the quick long ball from time to time so Archer can chase with his pace and get their defenders facing the wrong way.

Yep, we’ve been found out and the wheels are starting to come off. Won’t be a good place if we don’t beat Bristol City on Monday.

I said after the Huddersfield game that we don’t have a plan B, other than throwing a midfielder on to play up front.

How many goals has Steffan cost us this season? I share the fans frustration!! If he wasn't so much of a liability then the fans wouldn't have to worry so much.
And how many games of professional football have these fans played or managed in?

I trust the judgement of Carrick over them. We have been one of the most in form teams in the country recently so it’s clearly working.

But yes let’s listen to the fans and ask the keeper to hoof it to our under 6 foot striker. Sure that will work

Should he start consulting the fans on what the line up should be for the next game, or what formation we should start using?

It does for Burnley

We have lost two games on the bounce for the first time and one of them against one of the best championship sides that I can recall, the wheels are hardly coming off.

As Steve McClaren once said, "the fans need educating." Although unwise to criticise the fans it was as true back then as it is now. Fans are not used to this risk and reward style of play, yet it is all part of the entertainment. I love to see Steffen entice the attackers, and more often than not whip it past them. It's like a cat playing with a mouse. However, we've been brought up on mainly a string of conservative coaches or hoof merchants so the fans do need educating. Wilder had Lumley trying to play in this way and it was risky stuff, yet Steffen 9 times out of 10 causes no problem. As long as in the 9 times out of 10 you create a chance or score a goal then you're in credit as the 10th time will not always lead to.a goal.

in the end it's just a narrow loss to a team that were always head and shoulders above us. I'm sure that the team will be ready to go at BC and snap this poor two game loss.

Steffen played a couple of top drawer long passes tonight that Glenn Hoddle in his prime would have been proud of,thought he had a decent game tonight
Steffen takes too long to find someone and often it came back to him….he takes too long and then the opposition hem us in and he’s under more pressure and has to go long
But it’s because he dilly dallies with the ball at his feet….he is his own worst enemy….

When he takes too long it’s usually because our defenders and midfielders are too static and not running into space, making it their fault and not his.

The bigger the crowds the worse it is.

We do have a fair few idiots though.

The bloke behind me had bet on a Burnley win so he was basically supporting them.

Steffan has generally been good this season, no complaints.
I don't know why someone like this would actually want to go in the first place.

The match day thrill is about being caught up in the crowd, feeling the same emotions enmasse? How can he do that when he's wanting the opposite to happen that they do? And it's not out of loyalty as a fan either is it? Pointless.
