Carrick Annoyed......

If some of our outfield players (McNair especially) could spread the ball about with both feet like Steffen can we’d be an even better team than we are now. By the sound of it there’s too many fans in the West Stand living in the Jack Charlton era with rose tinted glasses on.

It’s all well and good having McNair look better with the ball at his feet playing out but without the ball is when fry is valuable to us and a million times more valuable than McNair because he sniffs out danger whereas McNair doesn’t quite have that like fry does and it’s why we’d be a much more solid and effective team all round with fry in there….
Carricks first blind spot but it’s a costly blind spot; around 100million worth of blind spot….

He knows best though
In Carrique we trust 🤔🤞🏻

Why do you have to have been a professional footballer to have a legitimate opinion on a game or player, I've watched us since 1967, I think I may have picked up a little knowledge in that time !
This is, in my opinion, exactly the problem with a lot of fans (not necessarily you in particular).

The game has moved on a lot since 1967. It's moved on a lot since the 90s never mind the 60s.

I'm 42. When I played as a kid you were taught to clear your lines, don't pass the ball across the area. You tried passing around in defence and you got a bollocking. You watch kids teams play now and they break all those rules. They're taught to be brave in possession.

Better pitches are the big difference but also better coaching. A lot of old principles most of us grew up with, or were taught as youngsters are now very dated.

Unfortunately a lot of our fans still think the old perceived wisdom still applies. Don't mess about with it at the back. If in doubt hoof it out etc. Understandable, but they're wrong. The problem is they don't know they're wrong and are annoyingly vocal about it.

Gerraway man! We haven't lost a home game since Blackburn in mid October, our home record under Carrick is W8 D2 L1 with an aggregate score of 27-7. By all means debate the crowds reaction to the team but don't make nonsense up.
Exactly, it’s clearly a system that works so why get on the players backs over it?

Hackney loses the ball more than Steffen does, why is that more acceptable? Steffen is doing his job and doing it well. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him last night.

Maybe we should run a poll every week and get the fans to decide how we play 🤔

I agree, I thought Steffen looked the most assured that I’ve seen him on the ball the other night
My issue is that he took too long moving the ball out to players which for me meant Burnley got organised and tactically fully set up to nullify Steffens strength and by then he didn’t have the options available and we often couldn’t get out because his tempo was too slow
Make sense?

I don’t think he was being slow on purpose. He was doing it in the hope he could draw a Burnley player out to him and then he could find the open man in space but FairPlay to Kompany and Burnley, they knew that’s what we wanted and held their position. Steffens distribution was still really good considering there wasn’t as much space to find a man.

Winds me up how much stick he gets during games.
