Carrick after match comments

You've called her out on a public forum. Don't get shirty when other people chip in to defend her
I’ve had a perfectly civilised exchange of views with her and that’s the end of it as far as I am concerned, we all get disappointed when the Boro lose.
Why does anybody else feel the need to get involved? Are people just looking to cause trouble?

It's a public forum in which YOU decided to direct some personal comments at someone. It's been civil because Dana chose to defend herself in that manner.
I can't see how you can make a personal comment about someone on a public forum with 100s of viewers and then get upset when someone else gives their opinion.

My guess is you had no idea Dana visited this forum and would respond when you initially made your comment.

Dana was spot on with her post-match comments. "if we play like that more often, we’ll be absolutely fine" - Fine for what? avoiding relegation?

We were average, and got beat by another average team. If we play like that for the rest of the season - we'll finish averagely mid-table.

No, no idea Dana visited this forum but not a surprise that she does, I don’t take back anything I posted but really respect the fact she got back to me.
Not sure what else there is to say?

I lack understandng of the criticism of Carrick after match comments

What do you want him to do, pan the team or start having a go at players publicly?

Is anybody here under the impression that individuals if required are not informed of errors they made in the game?

At the end of the day we are a young team, we have signed a number of players who require further developing and we also
have a dissproportionate number of players missing which means we have kids on the bench filling up the spots

We just have to accept that, along with or mini slump and understand we similiar issues at the start and with our best team we can match anybody

When the players who are missing get back and potentially added to in Jan we have plenty of games to catch up and attack the play offs

I thought we were ok but a few players really let us down. Crooks and Greenwood were awful and should’ve been changed much earlier.
Unfortunately the options on the bench aren't there. Greenwood and Crooks would be struggling to make the same team with a fully fit squad, the options have shown little to suggest they'd do better.

We created chances in both halves, more than enough to win the game. The chances given to Jones (to potentially finish the game off) and to Crooks, we're gilt edge. They should have been buried.

Some fans today seems to want confirmation of what they believe they saw. That's not the manager's job. Not everybody on here agrees on last night's match so why should the manager.

For me, last night we dominated a side above us in the league, created the most chances but lost. It was a scrappy game but there were glimpses of good football, usually falling apart as we approached the 18 yard box.

If people are expecting a win each time they enter the Riverside they've got some long games ahead and their egos are going to take some beating (as we've seen by some of the reactionary posts on the board).

One thing I don't agree with is the mandatory interviews with managers. They're there to manage teams, get results, not explain themselves. It's been introduced to the game as media power has increased but it's of no benefit to the sport itself.

This is pertinent though, nobody outside of the club knows what the target is for this season.

I mean we'd all be surprised if it's "to avoid relegation" but over and above that, who knows.

As supporters we have our view and preference, but the staff and players will be working to the objective set from the top.

You're right, nobody knows - but the target is surely play-offs. Gibson/Carrick/etc... have ambition, and play-offs are not unrealistic.

Same for all clubs, finish as high as we can. I do think some supporters think this means we should be automatically in the top few places when mid table looked a decent shout at the start of the season.

Targets and ambition are all well and good, the problem is when people start hearing them as guarantees.

"We want to smash the league" misquoted as "We're going to smash the league" is the classic example.

i am she.

i don’t see how i was disrespectful, or how i undermined the manager (quite the compliment if you think i have the power to do that 😅). i was disappointed with our performance and had just heard him say something i massively disagreed with - and i put that view forward when asked.

you don’t have to be someone to have an opinion and i’m not going to dodge what i think when there’s something said that i just don’t align with. that being one of them.

i like carrick, i think he is a fine manager and i love watching his brand of football - i just didn’t like the answer (i can appreciate post-show, though, that he may have just been protecting his players)
I heard the interview and your comments, as always thought you were very fair. I think most fans understand it is hard for Carrick at the moment, a lot of injuries to key players and little on the bench to call in. Some very poor performances tonight and whilst I get Carrick doesn’t want to throw anyone under the bus it was the first time where I thought he sounded a bit defensive and prickly. The questions were not unreasonable. I think he has done a great job and is still learning, at the moment he doesn’t have much of a hand to deal. It doesn’t mean occasionally we can’t disagree with how he responds. I love the way we play under him but I thought we were off it last night, despite the fact as many have said we should have had game wrapped up by half time. Personally I think if we play like we did last night in most matches we won’t make play offs. A couple of signings and some key players back though and I see some very different performances coming

Fair play to you Dana for speaking your mind. As a supporter listening, that's what I like to hear, nothing wrong with giving your honest opinion and I fully agreed with your comments.

The top aim was "automatic promotion", but clearly now the play-offs [at least].
The main concern is not to rely so heavily on loan players, although there have been hints we may have permanent signings in January. I mentioned yesterday, that only a few games back, Carrick told reporters he wasn't going to make the same decisions they did last year and that there may be a "surprise" around the corner. He won't tell us and rightly plays his cards close to his chest. It's a business, after all, and we have to be professional about it if we want to get our targets.

Spot on . Just hope the MFC mafia don't make you disappear from BBC Tees for daring to speak the truth .

I think it's time Garrick followed what his mentor(Fergy) did, and refuse to give interviews. Leave it to the players to tell them how it is in the post match interviews. I would love it, but it's unlikely to happen because of contractual obligations I guess.
We had them where we wanted them for 65 minutes, still had opportunities after going 1-2 down. It wasn't to be, and I'm sure the players know they should have done a lot better. Just glad there wasn't as much booing as we had after the Ipswich game. It does no good at all, it's due to the injuries and better players missing.
