Carrick after match comments

I just don't get it. Would people who are against his comments actually rather him throw players who are already lacking confidence under the bus and risk the rest of the matches till we can get some new faces in in Jan?
Why have a post match interview at all if what we can hope at best for is regurgitated sound bites and back patting. I’d rather not hear lies after a horror show.

I still like to hear what he has to say - just requires some reading between the lines because his primary duty is to get the players to perform, and that isn't usually aligned with publicly blasting players in the media.

Nobody is under any obligation to listen if they don't want to. If you're a fan of managers blasting players to try get a performance out of them, that doesn't really seem to be Carricks style. Wilder had a bit more of that in him at times and it definitely didn't inspire the dressing room.

A Commentator has the right to ask questions, but they do`nt have to like the answer and neither do we.
He was clearly frustrated - watch the MFC post-match interview - but that`s to be expected.

He sounded fed up. As mentioned before what’s the point of these interviews, especially so close to the end of the game when emotions will still be running high.

Despite our sloppiness in the final third we still created enough chances to win that game. So something must have been going right.

I think we are just in a tricky period where every shot on target goes in and we are missing some fairly presentable chances. Throw in our injuries and lack of ability to freshen up a few positions it was very frustrating. That’s football

Poor performance and incredibly sloppy.

Should have won comfortably, which is telling for how bad Hull were, but I wasn't even surprised we lost.

It's been an incredibly frustrating season.

We played well apparently and just didn’t get the breaks - Does he use the same interview script after every game?

Even Uber fan Dana Malt was massively in disagreement with his summary today, a sign I’m sure!
I thought Dana Malt (if that is who she is) was massively disrespectful to Carrick. She can put an alternative view without trying to undermine the team manager to the listening public many of whom are challenged at best. Carsick has massive experience at the very highest level of the game and has done a great job for us. Who is she?

As soon as the equaliser went in you knew a second was coming. Not building from the back and acquiring a solid defensive foundation over the summer is really hurting us. We hear a lot about potential attacking movement in Jan but I’d seriously be looking at CBs with an eye to replace Dael Fry and Paddy Mc.
I think this is a little unfair, we do need a rb now but for me if we didn't have injuries, Smith, Dijksteel, Fry, Rav, Lenihan, Clarke, Paddy, Engel and bangura (Smith, Rav, lenihan, engel) is a more than adequate defence for this division with the other as back up, its working as a unit, we are constantly changing the team so are unable to build relationships, having more energy in the midfield Hackney and obrien with Mcgree, forss and Jones in front would drastically improve our team, its fine margins.

We do lack quality in depth but we have got what we have got, I pray that Diallo and a one or two others maybe on our January shopping list to add some much needed quality to our starting 11.

One thing that frustrates me is Carricks persistence to play the same way no matter matter, no sign of an extra defender, extra midfielder to shore up areas change formation 451 or 541 and conversely add an extra striker when we need a goal, we just go out on a wim in general and it worries me.

This is how last night felt

Dieng
Dijksteel ??? VDB Engel
Howson ????

As soon as Jones missed his chance I knew what was coming, We passed the ball about at the back and gave Manny absolutely nothing AGAIN.
Hull looked useless and we reverted to type and our defence melted for absolutely no reason AGAIN.

I'm usually the most optimistic of fans, but I'm struggling with this one. Just hpwr there's a game Saturday so we don't have to stew for to long.

I posted last night that we got what we deserved in the end but that’s because of poor finishing, final balls and sloppy touches, and awful defending that led to two Hull goals. Overall we created far more than they did, had more of the game, tested their goalkeeper far more than they did ours, and missed an absolute sitter to turn 1-0 into 2-0 and probably seal the game before half-time.

I understand why Carrick is talking about how we should’ve won it and how he feels like over the piece we did enough for three points.

I don’t understand why people want him to criticise players in public. Are they the same people who continually slagged off Warnock and Wilder for digging out individuals after games we hadn’t won?

And in instances such as this, Carrick can’t win in the media. If he says we should’ve won he’s watching something else, if he calls someone out it’s bad for morale, if he talks about injuries he’s making excuses. The fact is we were sloppy in and around their box last night way too often and then they’ve pinched two goals to really rub that into the wounds. The injuries have crippled us but overall we did do enough to win the game imo.

We did play well and should have been out of sight before hull scored their equaliser.
Carrick really sounded stupid when he said we played ever so well after the game. We were pathetic, should have battered them because they were crap. Digkstel is useless, Crooks was well off it Saturday and continued it last night, Jones couldn’t pass water and missed a sitter, Barlaser lost his man for first, created the second for them, and generally is weak as ****.
Let’s not even start on substitutes, Silvera might be from the outback, well he wants taking outback and rogering with a giant didgeridoo until he admits that he’s Carrick’s offspring from a relationship he once had with a Wallabee on Manure tour of Aussie back in the day.

As critical as I have been about individuals and the team, I'd be pretty worried if Carrick came out and said the same things as me in public. One of the biggest parts of his job is to keep the players motivated and maintain a decent team spirit.
If he came out to his press conference and:
Started singling out Dan Barlaser for his defensive frailties
Pointed out Crooks looks like he's wearing concrete boots and lost the ability to make a 5 yard pass
Mentioning that as a team we look spineless and are shambolic when it comes to defending set pieces.

I would agree with everything he was saying but I would be very worried about his future at the football club.

Have none of you ever dropped a b0ll0ck at work and your boss help you fix it without publicly shaming you to others? Because I have, and it feels good to know your boss has your back.

We were streets ahead at half time, but the missed chances cost us in the end. We didn't turn up after the break, and Hull made some telling substitutions. Their first half system and preparation proved to be not working for them so they changed it, a sign of good management. Definitely a game of two halves, for both teams.

Personally, I would have hooked Crooks and Greenwood at half time, dropped Manu back, possibly into the ten role, and put Dan Nkrumah up front. Also, Engel needs to be taught how to turn with the ball so he can run forwards down the line, instead of passing the ruddy thing back all the time.
It’s so frustrating to watch. The lad has some good attributes, as shown last night when he’s pointing in the right direction, playing some good passes across the box.
He also needs to polish up on his throw in’s.
