Can the UK rejoin the EU?

I voted leave for reasons I’ve previously openly discussed on here and I’m not going to go into it again. I now feel I’ve been let down by those in power rather than necessarily mislead. On reflection, and seeing how incompetent those in power on all sides have been since 2016, I hope we rejoin sooner than later, whether that’s customs union and free movement/right of abode of people, or full rejoin ultimately.
Ditto

Very mature reflection

I am over here in ireland & belive ye made the right choice in leaving as the EU is one for all & all for one meaning we can no longer do our own deals with business around the world as it has to get approved by the eu first,.
Which business deals is Ireland wanting to do?

I would think those discussions are, and have being going on between third party, non attributable people.
Proly. They can't be too detailed given they are in opposition.

I was more highlighting that we will be making serious overtures before labours first term ends. It was in response to a poster who mentioned 10 years before we can even broach the subject.

yes, I'm sure the country that is 3rd on the world list of economic freedom is struggling with all those shackles.

The UK is 28th by the same measure. Similar to the economic powerhouse of Barbados

There's more evidence to suggest Starmer deliberately pushed an unpopular people's vote onto Labour knowing it would destroy Labour's chances in the general election than there is to say he plans to rejoin

That's just a fact

Every year on paddy's day we send government ministers around the world to bring companies to ireland that cant happen now unless the EU gives it the green light.
The EU has a whole bunch of trade deals which Ireland belongs to.

Off the top of your head, who are the three biggest companies that Ireland wasn't able to do a deal with?

The geopolitical stage isn't looking good for the EU or the UK

The News I read suggests Ukriane is loosing the war. That the sanctions have hit the EU and UK economy and neither will recover

Who knows what the EU or UK will look like in the 2030s?
Probably alot worse off with the emerging world who own the minerals to transition to renewable doing better

The west relies on fossil fuels and the rest are shifting to renewables

It's just not going to happen the UK rejoining

I think the quote you were thinking of was "loosing the dogs of war".

You don't have to be following (or even believe) borolad's mate to know that Russia is very definitely coming second.

I see the usuals are managing to direct the topic towards their dislike of Starmer.
Someone will be along to call him a cnut shortly, just because he can.

Biden has a general election year coming up. He can't afford to fund Ukraine and Israel

Ukriane has taken back 0.2% of land in 2023 according to the New Youk Times article based on a Institute for the studies of war report

The unpopular peoples vote first announced by Jeremy Corbyn? (I've done this one a few times on here)

Joining the EU would likely need another referendum. In that case Scotland would deserve another independence vote, also Wales!
