Blackpool Covid and Injuries

In reality if it is called off, it will likely be later in the day when fans are either well on their way or actually arrived, my digs would need cancelling by midday for a refund…….

I don't know if 2 weeks+ rest would be that much of an advantage for Sheff United. I'm pretty sure Wilder and the players will be champing at the bit to play every game right now though.

Beat Blackpool as we should and I'd rather be in our position of going into the game on a roll with confidence sky high than theirs of having not kicked a ball that counts for anything for a fortnight. Regardless of any edge to their fitness that might theoretically give them.

We may play 3 games in less than 6 days (Sunday 3pm to Saturday 12.30pm) - not the end of the World but its tighter timescale than any other time of the season.

If it is called off it will be because of further COVID results tomorrow. They have clearly passed todays because there has been no further statement.

It is crazy that the rule takes into consideration existing injuries. The rule needs to be consistent and specific to COVID. There should be a minimum number of positive cases in order to apply for postponement. They are too quick to call games off.

That said we should say that Blackpool have only had games postponed recently by opposition. If this is called off this would be the first one caused by them. But they DO have players that they could register for tomorrow. I hope that they do not because of it benefiting us but because we need to get on and play the season.

I think it will be on now all testing today must have been clear unless we would have heard. Very unlucky to test positive 12hrs later

The authorities had no problem with Liverpool sending a team of schoolboys to Villa for a League Cup tie a couple of years back, but remove a handful of their senior players in Covid times and they’ll postpone their games. Some clubs are clearly milking the situation to suit themselves.
Maybe it’s time to stop teams announcing they have players with Covid and therefore it would be just another injury? In the past players with flu were omitted from the squad just like they were injured. Of course if the Covid/flu outbreak affected maybe 75 percent of their squad then there’s a probably case for game cancellation but as many have mentioned teams have U-23s and therefore (teams) have (other) resources.

I reckon the jawdees will be under the microscope now as OBVIOUSLY flouting this Covid loophole.

I reckon a two year transfer embargo would be sufficient although a points deduction would do, but Harry Redknapp hasn't intervened, so the FA will probably waive one.
