Benidorm Curfew/Spanish Lockdown.

Still as rare as rocking horse 5hit here - ordered some at the local Pharmacy 2 weeks ago and we were added to the end of a VERY long list
They were scarce at first. We can get them now. The first we got were 4 euros. The next ones were 3 euros.

So we are lucky in two ways now. 1 - we can get them. 2 - they are now going to be reasonably priced.

I guess I´m really lucky here then! Where I work we use them anyway because we have a clean room for production of electronic parts. They are not freely available now though - you have to ask for one. Before there were boxes and you just helped yourself. Which I did at the start of the crisis so we have a handful at home.

Data from Friday, April 24

First the important thing: the advance that was needed appears, with the drop in deaths below the bar of 400, at 367. They are 73 fewer than yesterday. That new lower echelon that was sought, to avoid entering stability as is happening to Italy. 22,524 in total. The multiplication rate is maintained at 1.08.

The dance comes, one more day, and they go ... from the accounting of the positive cases. New change of criteria with respect to yesterday, which in turn is different from the day before yesterday. They now take as a reference a total number of infected people including people with "positive antibodies without symptoms at the time of diagnosis." The difference between figures is not very relevant (1,700 more cases). But it is seen that the important thing is to try new things.

Now they are 219,764 infected in total. With respect to the official figure given yesterday, of 213,074, the difference and today's new cases would be 6,740. But since they change their criteria and compare it with their new total figure, the difference is 4,229. The multiplication rate with all this goes up to 1.10.

By the way, miracles exist. Today, for the first time in its daily report, the Ministry of Health gives a number of data not in absolute terms, but in relative terms. The percentage of daily increase in cases. How nice it would have been if instead of publishing it on April 24 they had done it a month earlier. Is this:

All joking aside, it'll be weird for her because it will be the first time she's been out of the house for 6 weeks - that's 42 days ! - and I mean literally has not left the house at all. We haven't even got a garden, just a small terrace. At least Dona Malaguena and I have been out to the Pharmacy and/or Supermarket once or twice a week - she hasn't even been allowed to do that.

Of course what she actually wants to do is meet up with her mates, which she still can't do yet, but at least she has light at the end of that particular tunnel as well

Data for Saturday, April 25

It survived as well as it could yesterday's grief of the Ministry of Health, in which it applied a new change of criteria, maintained the two criteria in the official document, reported appearing aggregated data to later rectify them. As it was soon seen that it was a day of occurrences, I gave up following his logic and adjusting the information to his misinformation.

Picture25April2020.jpg

Once the trance has been overcome, what the Ministry communicates today is that at least today it is committed to continuing with the latest version it gave yesterday. I don't spend time explaining what his criteria changes consist of because we don't know how long the changes will take now. Explaining what can change again tomorrow has become an exercise that instead of helping the population, what it does is confuse them more. So I do not collaborate in this dynamic. I show the results without explaining why they are better or worse than the previous ones. (Note: you have not published the official document on the web and on networks, so I am afraid there may be new changes).

The new criterion is not more realistic than yesterday's. Both the number of declared infections and the total deaths are far from reality, which is more serious in both cases (in total numbers). I have already commented on this in shared analyzes on Twitter.

But it is also important to insist on why I give and analyze the official data and I do not dedicate myself to making estimates of more real data, and sharing those "real" data. First, because I am not an epidemiologist. Second, and much more important, because what we need to know now is not the exact number of infected and deceased to know what stage of the epidemic we are in, if we are controlling it and if we can get out of confinement. For this, what is needed is to see the trend with a sample that, even if it is biased, is representative of reality not in its situation, but in its trend. And that basically if we have it with the official figures, as long as their accounting criteria do not change disproportionately. And third, because what I intend to do is to provide complementary visualization, information and analysis to the official data published by the Ministry because it is those data with which the television news and the covers of the newspapers and its website are opened.

That said, the consequence of the changes is that they reduce the number of total infected people by about 18,000 with respect to the series followed until the first statement yesterday. With the new count there are 205,905 total cases compared to 223,795. So far, when they have made these changes, they have not updated the series data from the previous days applying the new criteria. It is therefore a “dirty” series, with data with mixed criteria. As long as Ministry does not make a new official calculation, I have applied a basic adjustment of the series, without any sophistication. I apply the same reduction criteria. In the column "Old cases" are the figures of the official published until yesterday, in "Total cases" are the official figures for the last 3 days and the above corresponds to my own calculation.

The adjustment allows the multiplication rate to be unchanged and altered. As for new daily cases, I do not comment, because it remains to be seen what comes out with a few more days with the same accounting criteria.

In deceased, it is possible to maintain the level reached yesterday: 378 deceased, by 367 yesterday and 440 the day before yesterday. As we said, it allows to settle in a new phase that confirms descent.

Data for Sunday, April 26

Very good data today on the downward trend acceleration. Although it should be borne in mind that we entered the first day of the weekend, with possible underestimation of data registration, especially in relation to cases.

The number of deceased falls surprisingly to 288, from 378 yesterday and 440 from three days ago. Surprising because such a notable drop had not been observed so far in that short period, neither in Spain nor in Italy. They are really hopeful data. It gives a boost to the multiplication rate, which is already down to 1.07. There are already 23,190 deaths registered since the beginning of the epidemic.

The number of registered cases also experiences a notable drop, going from 2,915 yesterday to 1,729 today. Almost 1,200 less. These data are comparable with yesterday's figures when applying the same accounting criteria. The effect also affects the multiplication rate, which goes from 1.09 to 1.07.

The new method of accounting for daily cases of the Ministry of Health continues to generate controversy and cast doubt on whether the data we have now is really comparable to that reported a few days ago. Let us hope that at least they are data that give correct directions to the scientists and experts who are evaluating the next steps to take in managing this crisis.

In any case, the Ministry of Health has cut ties because it has already removed from its official daily document any reference to the figures referring to other cases detected by the serological test system, so it is not possible to recompose the data using the previous criteria. . It will be very interesting to see how the official international data collection centers react, because yesterday they still gave the figure of 219,000 cases, for example in ECDC and therefore in the Johns Hopkins repository, which also gives the figure with old criteria ( 223,000). It will be surprising to see that in the charts with national series of total cases, we will be the only one that suddenly has a drop. Especially since the Ministry of Health has not provided a new series with the data for March and April corrected with the new criteria, but simply the data is reduced from one day to the next.

I've been out today :p - dragged my daughter kicking and screaming, but I made her enjoy it in the end :D.

Just a 30 minute circular stroll round past her school and back, but it was just great to be out
Good for you. Great for you to be able to get out with your daughter.

I said somewhere else that I was planning to hire a couple of kids under the age of 14. Sounds a bit creepy. However it would allow me to go for a walk a week earlier than I am expected to be allowed.

Sorry to rain on your creepy parade but it's supposed to be a parent or guardian only accompanying the child - we obviously had our IDs on us in case we were stopped by the Guardia Civil, but none in sight

Data from Monday, April 27

Today's figures confirm the step down data for the past four days. We will see tomorrow if there is any kind of correction to the high after the possible weekend effect.

Of course, new day with news in the daily part of the Ministry of Health. it has finally managed to ensure that all the autonomous communities apply the same criteria to count people hospitalized and in the ICU since the beginning of the epidemic. Well, not all of them, Galicia is missing. He did it on April 27. That information was lost on April 2, which would have been so useful for citizens to see the change of trend in the hospital situation. 25 days.

Picture27April2020.jpg
There are 1,831 new cases in the last 24 hours (+102), and we are still close to minimums. It gives a total of 209,465 infected. The multiplication rate drops noticeably to 1.05.

At the moment, international organizations do not follow the new official data from the Ministry, and publish the data in their series with the previous criteria. The Johns Hopkins University repository assigns 226,629 cases to Spain (data from yesterday). Access here.

331 deaths are reported. They are 43 more than yesterday. What is relevant is that it is now the fifth day in a row that the death toll is below 400. 23,521 deaths in total. The multiplication rate also drops to 1.06.

Progress is made in the exit of the epidemic, each time closer to the multiplication rate of 1.0. But we are not out, and we can go directly into the second wave of the epidemic without leaving the second. Much depends on the measures that are taken. In this thread I argue that we started badly, because the measures for the exit of children to the street have been poorly designed.

Educational measures to consider

- Prepare what is going to be done, trying to make them excited, within the possibilities allowed. Do not generate false expectations about departures (like They will see their friends, or that they will be able to go to places or do things that they do not are allowed).

- Before the ride it is important to clear doubts or fears and explain to the children and girls, so that they understand it, what is the situation and what are the rules, explaining it to each minor depending on their age and personal circumstances,
making them participants in the fulfillment of the same and especially of the physical distance measurements. It may be useful to practice all preventive measures as a game. You have to try that the rules always they are the same so that they become a new custom.

- Answer questions about COVID-19 in a simple way and transmitting Calm down, and reminding them that it is in their power to protect themselves by washing their hands, coughing or sneezing with your elbow flexed, etc.

- It is important to explain to the boys and girls that the walk is a possibility, not a obligation. If they are afraid or do not want to go out, do not force the walk. Make it shorter or interrupt if requested.

- Before leaving, and always in a friendly environment, remember with short questions what can we do and what not.

- Be on the rides that the measures are met and try to correct affectionately so that they are acquiring new routines.

- It is important to note that we all share public spaces. The people with special physical, sensory and intellectual abilities can
need that we all collaborate in maintaining physical distance.

- Although it is necessary to educate on prevention measures, you should try to avoid transmitting fear to boys and girls. The walks can bring many benefits for children as long as they are a pleasant experience. Furthermore, it is an opportunity for your progressive return to normality.
