A lot of the tests are being done because of contact tracing taking place. This is a good thing. As it means the asymptomatic carriers do not pass it on to other people (including the vulnerable). This is how you stop people dying from the virus.More cases or more testing ?
The likelihood is that there is no increase at all in the actual number of cases as asymptomatic cases would have gone un-tested and un-detected.
Also why re-test people who test positive and not re-test people who test negative ? It reminds me of my time in Quality when production managers would want and failed batches re-testing but they never wanted any that had passed to be re-tested.
The whole numbers game is becoming a bit of a farce tbh.
Separately on 14/15 July we had a problem at the local testing centre. With false positives being reported for some reason. All 228 of these cases have been re-tested and 70 of them were found to be false positives.
