Asylum seekers to be sent to..... Rwanda

Judging from the contents of his speech he did make a play about politically inspired lawyers who will fight this in the courts, which is probably what will happen, and covered himself to be able blame someone else if it falls…which absolutely typical of his MO.
He sees this as win-win either way. Just as long he survives for another week.

What can we deduce from that?

That a lot of leavers are racist? Or maybe most racists voted leave!
I think it's the later. And pretty much all. I can't imagine circumstances where racist would have voted remain. It's the inherently none racist option

I think this ridiculous scheme is going to be written about in years to come as a massive failure costing millions and not actually achieving much. No doubt it's being outsourced with involvement by some company linked to a Tory Party donor.

How a European nation that is supposedly civilised and advanced can fly people seeking refuge 4000 miles away is astonishing.

I’m surprised they’re splashing out and putting them on FLIGHTS… that will outrage the “5 star hotels at the tax payers expense” brigade.

surely a big boat would be cheaper?

Maybe they’ll could claw back some money on landing costs and just parachute them in

It just won't work. Be a big waste of money but it's what they think the electorate want to hear. They will still come and just fade away into our grey economy unnoticed as so many already do without making a claim for asylum.

Its exactly what was said earlier.

He knows it won’t happen but can claim it’s lefty lawyers and judges stopping it, which will pander to the people he’s aiming this policy at and deflecting away from the ****show that is his government.

As Jews, as humanitarians, we say no “offshoring”.

Statement on the government's plans to send asylum seekers to Rwanda

This Passover – Tell Priti Patel: don’t banish asylum seekers to Rwanda

by Dr. Evie Friedman, JCORE

Please take action today:

  • Sign JCORE’s open letter to the Home Secretary, compelling her to rethink these shameful plans.
  • Write to your MP, and urge them to support amendments to the Nationality and Borders Bill, before it returns to the House of Commons on April 20th.
“The Jewish Council for Racial Equality (JCORE) condemns in the strongest possible terms the government’s inhumane plans to send asylum seekers to Rwanda for offshore processing. Such a policy would be a cruel, moral failure, and an appalling abdication of responsibility.

It is utterly shameful that the government is choosing to punish, not protect, people fleeing conflict and persecution. Australia’s usage of an offshore system has been a human rights disaster: It is unconscionable that the government is seeking to replicate such a model in Rwanda, a country frequently condemned for its appalling human rights record. If ministers want to avoid repeating such horrific abuses and violations, they must urgently rethink these plans.

The government must also know that such deeply unethical proposals, which fly in the face of Jewish values, cannot be in our community’s name. It is disturbing that these plans have been announced shortly before we celebrate Passover, a festival where we recall our journey to safety from Egypt. As we prepare to read the story of Exodus, it is deeply unsettling that the government is seeking to deprive the opportunity of freedom to those fleeing modern day tyrants.

If the government is serious about preventing small boat crossings, it must instead urgently act to introduce safe and accessible routes to sanctuary in the UK. The offshore internment of Jewish refugees in the Second World War was a grave error: the government should learn from this historic mistake, uphold international refugee law and ensure all those seeking safety in the UK are treated with dignity and respect.”
