Assombalonga going?

Meanwhile, away from Newy’s fantasy land, the reality is Britt has 4 goals in 21 games. A good deal away from the 1 in 3 merchant you’re trying to fool us with..... As said he has gone backwards.

The chance of him getting a 5 year contract is very remote. £375k signing on fee, what do you base that on, it's just guesswork really.

He may well be better off in the long run but the point I was making is he won't just leave here because we want him to, he'll only do it if its in his best interests.
Obviously I don't know the exact ins and outs of a deal, I exaggerated the length as an example. £375k signing on fee was based on the difference of wages for the first six months. paid in a lumper so the guy isn't missing out. You seemed to be making out like players don't move clubs when they only have six months left on their current deal. LOADS of strikers move in January.. it's pretty much striker season right now.
Everyone wants to grab more goals to keep the team up or to push them forward, fallings out, formation changes etc etc can all have an influence on who moves.

Summer tends to be a more measured approach where the team is setting out their approach for the coming season. January is patch up, replace, beg steal & borrow. Thank gawd we have cool hand neil at the helm otherwise we could end up 'doing a sunderland'

He won't lose out, he'll be going to a club that wants to pay him more than we are offering. He's a solid 1in3 championship striker (current captain too)
If we've offered him £15k a week for two years he could very well be offered be offered £20k a week for five years plus a £375k signing on fee - he's £3.5m better off
£2m* transfer fee to the boro and you've got yourself a very tasty championship striker for £5.5m all in.

*could be a bit more
£20k per week for 5 years is £5m
£2m Transfer fee to Boro.
£375k signing on fee to bridge wages for 6 months.
That's £7.5m not £5.5m newy - even if your own estimates were right.

He is a pudding and simply not worth anything like that.
If we get a fee for him I will be delighted in more ways than one.

Is it Britt that has gone backwards though? (I am not convinced he has the room for that)
I think the issue with Britt at Boro is not just him tbf, he has also been let down by the style of our play and the lack of quality and pace out wide and in the midfield, supposedly helping him. He has been a terrible waste of money, performed averagely at best, but he should not carry that burden alone, for his lack of goals will, in part, be down to the spuds he has had to play with. I predict that he scores a few for his next team, mainly against lower standard opposition. Nice lad, but a flat track bully type for me.

Why do people think Assomabolonga will go anywhere else for less money when he could see out his contract, get his wages and leave for free in the summer?
This 👆

He has been poor this season, but doesn't have to go just because indeedio and others desperately want him to

I'd lose no sleep over any of our team leaving - or for that matter all of them staying

If he does go it would be great to get a fee
If he stays we lose the cost of his current wages at the end of the season

Britt has scored 44 goals in 139 games for Middlesbrough FC
He's IS a 1 in 3 merchant !!!!! Stop trying to spin your negativity......

If we can flog him for a fee it’s magnificent business. Fletcher coming back soon and hopefully a striker brought in to and with Watmores extension and Akpom here too it wouldn’t be to bad.

In reality what would the team loose if we lost Bit ? The odd infrequent goal. He is a clumsy player often on his backside often fouling the first defender as he is not quick enough to get clear of them. If he goes he goes.

Britt is a 1 in 3 striker, who are you proposing we replace him with ?
PS We don't have any money to spend ??????

Not sure, but as has said a swap deal is probably the most likely. As his value is about nil, and his wages are unsustainable.
That's the thing though isn't it...

The usual moaners on this board just say everything's rubbish, we're back to Britt today as the target !

I ask who we should get instead given the financial situation we find ourselves in and you say 'Not Sure'

Its laughable tbh !!!!!
Hahaha

So Nobby if you don’t do your job as well as 3 years ago, are less productive what relevance does that have today? I put it to you not a lot it is all about the present. Equally Britts pitiful return - 4 in 21- is representative of his work . A 1 in 5 merchant. So don’t tell me what he did in the past, it is what he is doing currently - which isn’t much. Not negative just fact Nobby
