Assombalonga going?

Isn’t he our top scorer from the last 20 years?

Averaged 1 in 3 in his time here, significantly better than the rest that we have
Only because a) he was here 4 years and I can't think of any other striker whose lasted that long and b) because he got to play in the championship not prem. Ability, he was miles behind Szilard Nemeth, Brian Deane, Beck, and Joseph-Job let alone Viduka, Jimmy, Ricard, Rav and Yak.

His top season in his career at this level is 15. Fletcher gets 1 in 3 when played CF and can actually play a bit too.

I thought the question of who would score more was a rhetorical question with the answer obviously Watmore.
There is no chance Britt would score more.

He will be a championship player - there will be loads of suitors and he will score goals for them.
Against the bottom half teams. He's average at best in this league.
I dont understand people saying he would score goals if he had better service.
Over his time at the club he's proven he needs plenty of chances to score and misses chances you would expect a striker in this league to put away.

He's poor on the ball, unintelligent, too small, his drawbacks are numerous.
Once a season he has a good game and scores goals he doesn't usually look capable of like the 2 against West brom, the goal against birmingham when he took it down and ran from the half way line but moments like that have been few and far between I'm afraid and I'm excited at the prospect of him no longer being on our wage bill.
In my opinion he's probably the worst signing we've ever made.
His price wasn't his fault and he's scored goals for us but if we'd never bought him and Bamford had played those games he would have scored more.
It's between gestede and Jim and unfortunately the 15 million compared to the 6 million and the fact we've wanted him off the wage bill for at least a year but we are forced to see him leave for free at the end of a contract that's hamstrung us as a club puts him out on top. A new era will dawn on mfc the day his contract ends 😀

I can dig the stats out again, and compare him to some of his contemporaries in this league. Good players at this level, your Grabbans, and Pukkis even your average ones like Wells and Dhediou score against the good sides occasionally. IIRC Britt has played against the top 6 teams for us about 38 times and failed to score in 36 of them. He's terrible again a half competent defender, he's fairly good at capitalising on mistakes by poor defenders

Britt does like to score sitters tap ins we just don't create the tap ins expect hin to produce the brilliance. He played best for us when we had Adama

I found this on another site - makes perfect sense - we have never catered for the type of forward we have had at the club - same goes for Assombalonga.
Its about playing to their strengths, Jordan Rhodes is a forward who thrives in a front 2, we played him by himself. Bamford is scoring in the prem and championship with Leeds by playing upfront, we played him wide left and right. Same with stuani. Our current forwards get blown over by a gust of wind but we insist on putting the ball in the air for them to challenge a 15st bruiser of a centre back.
For as long as we don’t play to our forwards strengths we won’t get a 20+ goal a season forward. Don’t just look at how many they score, look at how their team plays to get them that many goals, if it isn’t how we plan to play then they prob won’t get the goals we want.

He scored 15 in his 1st season
14 plus 2 in the cup in his 2nd
11 when he missed 1/4 of the season in the 3rd

They are ok stats. Not wonderful and certainly not worth £15m, but not bad

It's this season when he's been dreadful
When he got his 5th at Forest 4 months ago I fully expected him to get to double figures
Instead he has become as ineffective as Akpom

Most teams don't produce loads of tap ins, it's a fallacy that we don't create anything.

that is the most prolific season in his career in the championship. He won't ever score 20 league goals at this level.
I would say taking his injury last season into account he was 14/15 average in his first 3 seasons, but this season his form has deserted him - especially in the last 4 months

Is 14-15 league goals enough for a poacher, it's great for Carbone number 10 type, it's quite good for a Brian Deane bulldozer type, even a Ricard type of forward with a bit of everything, but is it enough for someone who doesn't hold the ball up and bring other players in, doesn't operate outside the box, doesn't work the channels and put crosses in for other players and doesn't do much work when we are out of possession? I'd say absolutely not, a poacher should be getting 1 in 2 if he isn't contributing anything else, that's 20+ league goals.

15 goals would get you 10th last season, 11th the season before and 7th the year before. A mid-table (9th-ish) goal scorer, but below mid-table in total contribution to the team.
