Assombalonga going?

Britt is not a handful he is soft as shīte.
He is also not a 1 in 3 striker.
I haven't said our recruitment team is great, but they could get a better player at better value than him.
They could...and will.
44 goals in 139 games for Middlesbrough.

I guess you failed your CSE maths ?

15 in 55 in the last two years. Do you need an abacus?
You seem better at history?
Well it's been rather an unusual last 2 years hasn't it...playing in a struggling side Woodgate, Covid and Warnock.

I reckon Mo Salah would have struggled to score many more than that in our team.

I agree with indeedio I just don’t have any confidence in him anymore. When ever he’s clean through in a one on one situation how confident are you that he will score??

the simple truth as other have said brit is a flat track bully sure he will rack a few goals every now and then and then go weeks with even having a shot on target.

the other awkward truth with Brit is if he doesn’t score then he doesn’t contribute anything else. Even his biggest cheerleaders in here freely admit his assist stats are bordering on anemic.

I’ve said for a few seasons now he’s finished at the club and I’d lose no sleep to see him go.

who else could we get ooh I don’t know maybe a player that actually shoots at the goal or and I know this is crazy but maybe when he’s not in the prime position to look up and and I know this is radical but.... pass to another player... who maybe just maybe might score themselves and not just shoot it aimlessly anywhere.

crazy I know.

Little point in trying to debate with Nobby. He seems to think what he achieved 2-3 years ago is relevant in this debate.

He fails to acknowledge the poor return from Britt is a marker to his current worth and value offered.

as such, there is no point when the guy is thick at recognising current return is more of a yardstick of where Britt stands.

2-3 years ago stats show how far Britt has regressed. That is the important fact that can be concluded and supports the view his usefulness is negligible at best.

If he was ultra reliable he would be playing in the Premiership...
He' our player, he averages 1 in 3, get some decent service to him and he will do the business. I'm confident Zorro !

You're just another glass half empty merchant Nosmo. The last 2 years are hardly a great yardstick to judge him by are they with the style of play, change in management, Covid etc...?
Not worth debating with you because you always see the downside of things, no matter what. I hope he plays and scores a couple today to shut you lot up !!

Everyone hopes he plays ... That's the issue.. Every week is a week of hope not certainty

Stating his goal scoring this season has nothing to do with a glass being half full or otherwise. His return is not good enough- fact. Bit of a childish response on your part.

I understand that - afterall you’ve sod all to defend him with based on this season.

Assombalonga is quite simply a very poor footballer. He struggles with the basics of the game. His control is abysmal. He has no awareness of what is going on around him. For a well build lad,he doesn't use his strength to good effect and is bullied most games by centre halves. The 15 million fee and reported 35k a week makes it yet another complete financial disaster from the club.

Everyone hopes he scores a couple every time he plays for us you dopey get.
Literally nobody wants him to do badly.
I'd love him to get 12 more in the last 24 matches of the league season and end up having had his best ever Championship season.
I just don't think there is a cat in hells chance of that happening.

He has never even been close to a top scorer in our league.
Even on that list, he's 25th in the all time Championship tally.

From the season we signed him, he was 13th highest scorer, his first season with us he was 8th highest scorer, then 17th, then 28th.
This season he is the 42nd highest scorer.

You can argue that the club hasn't got money, you can argue that he's done okay in a largely defensive team, but you cannot argue that he's been value for money or that his contribution this season would be difficult to replace.

Blackburn signed Adam Armstrong for £1.75m and he's scored 16 goals in the first half of this season.
He has only ever been in the top 10 goalscorers in a championship league season ONCE. He was 7th top scorer in 17/18 with 15 goals...Vydra got 21 He didn't bother the top of the scoring charts and never has.

Not worth debating with you because you always see the downside of things, no matter what. I hope he plays and scores a couple today to shut you lot up !! I hope he scores a couple today.... If he doesn't will you shut up....just for once ?

I hope he plays and scores a hattrick...but that won't make him an adequate championship striker.

Over his career BA is a 1 in 3 striker (or as near as damn it)

The last two years he's been nowhere near that and clearly is not the player he was. It would be churlish to not take into account the managerial merry go round since he came and the style of football we have mostly played. Warnock is renowned for improving players, he gave him the captaincy, presumably he sees something in him that others can't/won't see.

Whether Warnock wants him to stay and sign a new contract none of us know, one thing for sure if he does stay he will not be on anywhere near the terms he is now. I personally think he'd be better moving on. He's been here a while and probably change of scenery will benefit him. He could score12 goals between now and the end of the season and some fans will never accept he's any good.

As I've said before though he can't be forced out until the end of the season, if he leaves in January it will only be because he has received an offer acceptable to him and he wants to go.
