Sadly I fear the spell of good weather isn't to our advantage.
Feel we need to make a fast start and put their bowlers under pressure. If we give away too many early cheap wickets we'll be up against it.

I really don’t see us losing it. Could imagine another 2-2 draw or a narrow 3-2 win. They haven’t won a series here for 22 years and while that run will come to an end at some point, I don’t think the time is now with some of the quality England have.

It’s such an intriguing Test Series.
I do think getting at the Aussies is the way to go but their bowling attack is very strong. I really can’t make my mind up. It could go south very quickly, but I’d rather us go for it rather than hanging around waiting for the inevitable.
Their batting isn’t too shabby either. I do think having the express pace of someone like Jofra would have made a big difference on what will inevitably be flat tracks.
I’ll go 2-2 but completely open to the possibility of things going horribly wrong. Let’s hope not!

Anderson’s fitness, Stokes ability to bowl, Ali’s return after 2 years away from red ball cricket, Birstow back after a long lay off - there are lots of questions about England at the start of a very intense 5 tests over 7 weeks. The first test for me is critical - if Stokes can’t bowl as much as we need him to we have 3 very similar bowlers on what looks like a flat pitch. If the Aussies get to Ali those 3 could be working very very hard. Let’s hope we can win the toss, get in and score over 400 and put the pressure on the Aussies first innings. A draw or win in the first test could see us win the series maybe 3-2

If we can get away with a 2-2 draw I’ll be happy with that but I fear the worst especially after the Aussies demolished India recently. However we have a good opportunity to upset the odds, if we can keep it close for the first two tests and let it rip after that.

If we go at a clip under 5/over we win, if they hold us to there usual clip under 3 then they do.

Can this uber attacking batting style work against the Aussie bowlers? If we get at least one big 450+ score at Edgbaston giving their bowlers a pasting this will set the tone for the series. Skittled for 200-250.......
But, once again, the key I feel will be getting Smith out cheaply. Allow him to get in, tie one end down and hit consistent 50/100s.......

If we manage to produce slowish wickets then Broad, Anderson and Robinson should be better than their bowlers and as we have left Wood out of first test then they must surely expect that to be the case at Edgbaston despite the recent weather.

Crawley is the worry against an Australian attack. I’m still to be convinced by him. He feels like a walking wicket.

I think it will be a close call, It looks quite evenly balanced to me. As joked about above, winning the toss and batting today will likely give that team first advantage. Our bowling is my concern and is the area where the Aussies can exploit.

The way that England play now is exciting to watch, and will bring about success a lot of the time. I do fear that by playing so aggressively that an absolute humiliation is on the cards at some point against this Australia team in this series.
