Anybody else not feeling the latest series of Peaky Blinders?

I’ve just binged series 1 to 5 and watching series 6 episode 1 as we speak.

I found series 5 hard to follow compared to the others, sometimes I think they should make more episodes to get more details in.

Going to miss Helen/Polly in the following episodes.

Lasted till the 3rd series and lost interest. Tried again last year and stopped watching after about 4 episodes into the 3rd series again.

Like many others lost all interest in it last series. To be honest even the last series was poor.

I won't be watching the current series either now.

Would be interesting to see how the viewing figures line up for it - do they still measure such things as viewing figures these days?

I'm liking it a lot but with talk of a film after this series the risk to the main characters feels a little bit less. Could they do a film without Tommy? Maybe not.

Is it linked to the Viking’s series? I didn’t want to Google it in case I found some spoilers .

Two different series that happen to be set during the same time period around a similar subject.

Vikings is from the perspective of the invading Norse and Danes in 9th century Europe.

The Last Kingdom is from the perspective of the Anglo-Saxons defending against the invading Norse and Danes in 9th century Britain.
Based on a really good book series by Bernard Cornwell.

I was very late to the peaky table. I binged all 5 series in Jan when off with covid. I'd never had any interest in watching it despite all the usual hype.

Also don't get me started on folk who dress like them at football matches or down the pub 😂

I have to say I did enjoy the first 3 and maybe the 4th. I guess I preferred the actual gangster stuff rather than the politics. I found series 5 a bit of a drag but I was fully committed during my covid fever.

I've not watched any of 6 yet. I was going to wait for all 6 episodes then watch on iplayer. Yet I may watch the current 5 this week then watch episode 6 'live'. I guess it means avoiding spoilers next Sunday. I'd say its ending at the right time. Definitely no point dragging it out longer.

Did anyone realise it was the plot of "When the boat comes in"? All they had to do was to change "Why Jack man, you canna do that!" to "Where's Tommy?"

Should have a prize for the slowest drive-by shooting in history! Mafia gangsters in a hay cart pulled by a shire horse! Hilarious. Made those kids in the Bugsy Malone pedal cars look really sophisticated!

And every series they do a deal with Franky Solomons. And every series he screws them over. And they still come back for more. The gift of second sight hadn't been handed down.

And then Arthur gets killed (supposedly). But in the trailer for the next series - he's in it. No spoiler there.

I thought it was comedy gold

I agree with the OP; I'll watch it to the end, but I'm not into it like I was the first few series. I'm currently a week behind in my viewing, which probably tells you all you need to know.

As these things tend to do when they've almost run their course, it seems to have become about characters, rather than about plots. In previous series, Tommy's goals and motivations, and the threats to them, have been clearly defined. Now, it's one thing to keep the viewer guessing, but I'm not convinced the writers know where this is going either.

I dislike the emphasis on the supernatural angle in this series so far, but it's possible that this is just Tommy's perception, and an insight into his mental health, rather than a suggestion the supernatural is real.

I've got less interested as it has gone on .. kinda coinciding with Tommys rise .. much preferred it when he was "small time" making his way up .. now he's an MP and mixing with big US gangsters, Fascists and God ... It's a little silly at times.

Series 1, 2 & 3 were brilliant, been on the slide since then for me…

This one has just dragged far too much, last nights episode however was a bit better, some action at last.

There must be a real explosive final episode, given that it finishes next week though, suppose they’ll leave it on massive cliff hanger in preparation for the film
