Anybody else not feeling the latest series of Peaky Blinders?

I agree with the OP; I'll watch it to the end, but I'm not into it like I was the first few series. I'm currently a week behind in my viewing, which probably tells you all you need to know.

As these things tend to do when they've almost run their course, it seems to have become about characters, rather than about plots. In previous series, Tommy's goals and motivations, and the threats to them, have been clearly defined. Now, it's one thing to keep the viewer guessing, but I'm not convinced the writers know where this is going either.

I dislike the emphasis on the supernatural angle in this series so far, but it's possible that this is just Tommy's perception, and an insight into his mental health, rather than a suggestion the supernatural is real.
The super natural was in episode 1 series 1 with the racehorse too. Nothing new.

It’s a slow burner, previous series were about the Peaky Blinders growing their business, it’s all under threat now.

Glad its not just me. Think it has been quite slow. Think Killing Eve is the same. Its run its course. Enjoyed the Ipcress File, and how it was done. Watching The Promise on Iplayer, and Hidden.

My brother went on a Peaky Blinders location tour of Birmingham recently. He enjoyed it although the very knowledgeable tour guide was keen to emphasise that whilst the TV programme, in it’s understandable way, glamourised the gangsters of that era in Birmingham, they were in reality far from it. Murderous violent thugs.

Really enjoyed the first couple of series.
Loved the stylish way it was shot.
But the last series (4?) when the Italian gangsters came and started spraying around the machine guns spoilt it for me.
As mentioned by a previous poster it just felt incredibly unrealistic.
How many times can you dodge a bullet?

Seems a bit all over the place and will take a good last episode to bring everything together 1 I can’t see it happening - spent the whole series setting the scene.

Let see though!

Yes, it was very atmospheric, and setting was stylishly recreated.
I understand the narrative has taken it away from that environment, but it has lost some of it's appeal in doing so.

Loved the first few series. Thought it started to go off the boil a bit last series, and I just cannot get gripped into this one at all. Still sticking with it, as I feel I have to after putting so many hours into it already, but it's not good at all for me.

Definitely agree about Killing Eve. Just watching it now to know how it concludes.
