I predicted this type of thread last week. It happens whenever it's an international window. Some people fall over themselves to claim not to be bothered about England.

Edit: I wonder if any of those voting promotion also claimed recently to hate the Premier League, big clubs and not be bothered watching Champions League football too!?

I voted Boro, not fussed about England, I do watch some of their competition games but not all. I don’t hate the Premier League, but I do hate its greed and morals, but I want Boro to be the best we can be, and that means being the minnows and upstarts that occasionally give it to the greedy ‘big’ boys, so be it. As for Champions League, I really am not interested, I watch Sky Sports and refuse to pay for BT Sport. Unless the Boro are on, Id sooner watch repeats on Dave midweek than At. Madrid v Chelsea for instance. Same for the F.A. Cup final.
 
I ALWAYS ALWAYS used to say club success over National but Boro getting promoted has happened before and will happen again and there is also a chance we come straight back down haha!! Seeing the effect an England run into the later rounds after the past two tournaments had on the county I can only imagine the feeling around the town if England actually win something. The party would be unforgettable and lets face it may not happen again in our lifetime!
 
I'm not a big fan of England but I don't think the manager and team are quite ready for it. A good play off finish followed by automatic next season would be preferable and see us with a side that may even survive a season or two.

I love the premier league watching all football including international tournaments , champions league, europa league, conference league - you name it I watch it. I also get right behind England at tournaments. I haven’t met anyone who watches more football than me but there is still no better feeling than a Boro win and they would come before England each and every single time. Roll on Peterborough on Saturday, can’t wait to make the long trip to watch the mighty Boro. Will watch the England game tomorrow too and hope we win like I do any England game.

When England lost to Italy in the Euros it hurt for about 5 minutes. When the Boro lose on a Saturday it ruins my weekend.

Three of us 2 said boro one England all three are gold st holders btw.

I just wondered if this was the same on here snd by the numbers I’d say it was.

I wonder if the 70% people are voting with the heart rather than their heads? As in my heart is closer to Boro (which mine is also) so promotion would mean more to me than winning the World Cup.

Rather than the 30% who might be thinking it logically of the probability of a World Cup win happening over a promotion season?

Yes but wouldn’t be as obsessed as Boro getting promoted, that is a different level.
 
If England won the world cup it would be a great experience, a memorable summer and all that, but after a week or two it would be all forgotten. A Boro promotion season would have a much longer lasting effect on me and my future enjoyment of the football season (s)

A boro promotion would last a year, in fact less because we’d be at the lower end of the premier league scrapping for our survival getting beat most weeks and the glory supporters will be calling for wilders head. We’ve been there so many times.

A World Cup win…well those who experienced the last one still talk about it today.

well with that attitude what is the point of watching Boro or entering the cups as we wont win and cant ever go above our glass ceiling.

I know it is odds on that if we do go up we will struggle and may even come straight back down, but you have to have that wide eyed optimism or you might as well Fu$k off and play bowls!
