Bob Hatton still does & that was 1975BANG ON. The Leicester equaliser at Wembley or the 3 point deduction still haunts me to this day!!!
My attitude doesn’t equal what you’ve said. Not even close.well with that attitude what is the point of watching Boro or entering the cups as we wont win and cant ever go above our glass ceiling.
I know it is odds on that if we do go up we will struggle and may even come straight back down, but you have to have that wide eyed optimism or you might as well Fu$k off and play bowls!
The big moments of failure for England haunt me more than the moments of failure for Boro.
My week is ruined by Middlesbrough losing a league match, but I've long been over our relegation or our failure to make the play-offs.
I can't pretend that the 1997 finals really upset me because I was 4 years old and had no clue they were happening at the time.
An individual loss for England spoils my day a bit, but I'm fine after that, but then I can barely bring myself to think about the Euros final, we were so close.
At the same time though, that's probably because England have been a lot closer to winning something than Middlesbrough in the last decade and play for less frequently.
I'd probably have similar feelings if Middlesbrough lost another final or missed out on the title narrowly, but when the stakes aren't so high there's always another game around the corner to wipe away the depression of the last defeat with Middlesbrough.
Felt despondent after Barnsley, 3 days later we knocked out Spurs.
England lose on penalties in a major final, some of our fans embarassing themselves and there's 2 months of goading and self reflection before England play again.
Totally different for me. I don’t even think about the euros now just looking forward to the World Cup. Where as I’m still not over the Barnsley defeat and a couple of others this season. Beating Peterborough on Saturday will help me over coke that
you said "we’d be at the lower end of the premier league scrapping for our survival getting beat most weeks"My attitude doesn’t equal what you’ve said. Not even close.
If England win the World Cup it would trump any promotion that boro have achieved. That is what is being asked, nothing to do with a perceived glass ceiling or anything to do with a cup.
If the question was Boro win major cup or premier league Vs England World Cup then without a shadow of a doubt I’d pick boro…so let’s stick on topic so we can debate sensibly.
Well as you should know we’ve had one top fight top half finish in the last 20 years, I don’t think I appear to be saying anything about a glass ceiling, I think you have come to that conclusion using the sensible part of your brain.you said "we’d be at the lower end of the premier league scrapping for our survival getting beat most weeks"
You appear to be saying you would take a world cup win because Boro cant ever compete in the top flight, which is very much alluding to a glass ceiling.
If there was a boro game on tonight which one would you go to?£30 tickets still available for tonight's England game.
I'm on the train to London so there's only one option. If there was a boro game on tonight which one would you go to?
I wouldn't take England winning the World Cup over Boro getting three points at Peterboro on Saturday. I struggle to understand any Boro fan who would think differently. Yes I support England, but with the Boro it's a different level!
I can name most of the cast from the 1966 Batman Movie but would still prefer watching Dimi catching that ball to watching that film.In nearly 60 years time will we talking about the Boro getting promoted or England winning the World Cup? I can still name the team and I was a child.
Has to be England.
