Akpom.

If he goes he goes, and I wish him all the best, he's definitely deserved a top move. If he does go I just hope we use the money to bring in some real quality up front to replace the goals.

I think we just have to be honest with ourselves with Chuba, and that is the moment he scored 25 goals it basically signed off his career at the Riverside. Thanks for the memories. Let’s hope he commands a decent fee.

He moved out of the property he was renting at the top of Norton Hight Street well before June to go back to a place down south.

He might be off, he might not be.

I certainly take "a friend of a friend's brothers cousins sister said" rumours with a massive pinch of salt.

He's been front and centre of the new shirt marketing and has done an in depth interview taking about the new season. Strange things to do if he's already effectively packed his bags.

The right offer comes in then it's likely of course. We'll have to wait and see.

The vast majority of footballers will be looking for a 'big move' so that would hardly be surprising.

I am quite confident that MFC's valuation of Chuba will probably be higher than a club is prepared to pay, considering his age and the fact that he has only done it for one season.

Would love him to sign a new contract and maybe he will once the transfer window shuts and he realises he's in that risky zone of potentially getting injured or having a poor season which would then lead to a much reduced contract offer from other clubs.

I absolutely love him and I can't see how our team will function anywhere near as well without him in that 10 role.

I have not seen Gilbert play but is he strong and quick enough to play like Chuba on the half turn?

If Akpom doesn't sign another contract, then we need to sell him, or risk him going next summer for nothing, not forgetting he can talk to clubs in January within his last year, that would also cause disruption within the club.
If he stays and signs an extension, then great, i'm sure he will continue to enjoy the way Carrick has him playing.
If he doesn't sign an extension, then I'm sure the club will have other options in mind, and continue to move the club forward.

If he moves on - he`s done us a huge service. Last season he more than repaid the reported £2M we paid for him (y)
Yes and it has to be said he is probably at the end of his ‘cycle’ with Boro, only coming good and being productive for us last season after a few years, he would probably have gone last year if anybody had come in for him.

If we can get 15 goals (and a few assists) out of him this year I will be happy.

I have a niggle that he may struggle to get near that same form as last year.

I've long suspected that if he were to move on I don't Carrick would necessarily see it as the end of the world. I mean he was obviously our best player last season by a long way, but we can only play one way him in the side and ultimately that way of playing got found out a bit at the end of last season. If he were to move on I don't think a like for like replacement would be brought in. I think we would evolve to more of a 433. The player we have brought in this summer would certainly support that; quick, direct wingers/inside forwards. Playing 3 in midfield would also allow us to control games much better. It may even allow a way back for the legendary Martin Payero!

The massive feel good factor and optimism at the club would be shattered in a heartbeat if we sold Chuba given his importance to the team, for everyone saying sell him and buy Archer, you do know we will be weaker than last season when ultimately we weren't good enough to go up.
This can also be said about all the players who people are stating we need to get back and this includes Chuba, as all of the squad ultimately failed to deliver when required.

Hence why we shouldnt write off new or young signs as there quality, fearlessness, tenacity and energy may well be the difference in big games, who knows.
