A Week Today Boris will Outline Lockdown Exit Strategy

Doesn't look like a normal anytime soon if ever again.
Largest disease vectors opening up last? What like hospitals, care homes, supermarkets and people's homes? 🤣
Can hardly close down supermarkets though. I know pubs/sport is what we all want, but nothing non essential should be even considered before schools have fully reopened, that has to be the priority.

I agree and if the approach is proven to work then yes I'd feel a lot more relaxed. Also I'm not sure about hospitalizations but if you go on case numbers I think it's about time to start easing restrictions to get the country moving again. But I think we need to do it slowly and cautiously.
I think they'll tentatively point towards some of the vaccination effects in the statement tonight.

I've got relatives who are teachers and in a fortnights time they will be back to their full size classes, in some cases 30 children in one classroom, yet the government haven't had a vaccination drive for them.

If they wanted to stop adults becoming seriously ill with Covid then surely they should be jabbing teachers as a priority.

It's the elephant in the room. Are they looking for a showdown to further fragment the education sector?

Its probably the worst environment you could be in to catch covid, really is shocking that they will be back without being vaccinated. Would be shocked if the unions dont block it

It's not just the teachers is it? The kids will pass it among themselves and take it home with them and pass it on. It's what happened last time. If they go back in two weeks, it's only a couple of weeks until the Easter holiday when they are off again. Better to leave going back until after the Easter holiday in order to drive the numbers right down.

If the 4 'yardsticks' that are being leaked everywhere are real then it's effectively baking permanent restrictions and lockdowns in for at least this entire parliament.

Let's not build more hospitals and train more nurses during this time though.

I'm sure the curtain twitchers will be relieved.

What’s the point of announcements and briefings when it all gets leaked in advance?

SKY news are all over it today, who leaks this stuff?

Shame you don't care about others. Hang on in there. We can only get through this be pulling together
Nope, nothing to hang on for. Been told the exact same thing for the past 12 months, hang on in there it's over soon. Well sorry that's just b***ks. We were told vaccine was the way out. Turns out it isn't.

Furlough more than likely been extended until after summer. Tells you all you need to know.

Yep.

Summed up well.

Most clinically vulnerable and the people most likely to become seriously ill will have been jabbed by March 8. Jabbing teachers would have been a different strategy.

I don't know when the schools stop for Easter but if it's on March 26 then I'm not sure why they don't write off those 3 weeks and start on the day after Easter Monday?

They jabbed the health care workers ?

How difficult would it have been to do the teachers ?

I agree, I get that we need to get kids back in to school but sending them back for 3 weeks and then having a 2 week break seems nonsensical. Why not take advantage of the early Easter, better weather and ensure everything is in place for a secure and safe return rather than a rushed not quite 2 weeks notice as promised return. I get that a lot of parents are suffering with home schooling but surely an extra 3 weeks of pain is tolerable for most?
