8 days of mourning - is it for real?

I'm a paid up member of republic and I do my bit to inform people and question the rhetoric when I see it. By posting facts like above, and setting the record straight when people post the usual PR induced tropes. Some people don't like that, and start getting hateful, that's their problem not mine, I'd much prefer for them to debate with a bit more honesty and integrity but many people aren't capable of that unfortunately. I'm not going to allow myself to be bullied off threads by anyone though, just because they can't handle their perception being questioned.
Ah a paid member of the republic, so it’s a propaganda mission for you

My uncle was in Asia with him in the Navy. He made multiple comments about not spending too much time with the Chinese as you’d become ‘slit eyed‘. Any death tragic but to paint it as all rosy and continue to spend hours reminiscing is wrong. As I’ve said time and time again on here we have people using food banks and living in utter destitution and people support a family with stolen wealth like they are gods it’s crazy.

Newsreaders told to wear black and MPs black arm bands. I thought the blanket coverage was over the top but this...
It's bloody madness. The man was 99 and had lived a very good life. Celebrate that by all means but the coverage is ridiculous.

The husband of the head of state, I think it’s easy to wrap your head around why

I don’t watch and believe it’s over the top, but it’s not hard to understand the context about why

they are gods it’s crazy.
Officially the monarch is anointed by god at her coronation ( in a covered not seen part of the ceremony) hence why she is head of the Church of England.

some odd comments on here about how this nation works, as the fact is wetter you like it or not Britain is a constitutional monarchy it’s enshrined in our law so unless this changes nothing will ever change.

our legal system is under pinned by this idea at its heart as in most other countries it’s the people or the state versus but here it’s Regina/Rex versus.

Ironically isn't there an island somewhere where they believe he was actually that, a god? You couldn't make it up.

It's outdated and needs to change. There is an elected government by the people; the monarchy are obsolete but anyone saying so is accused of not being patriotic. We should be focusing on the gross inequality in this country of which these people are at the heart of.

There is an elected government by the people;
That would be hm govt the one that the queen invites to form her govt and her opposition for that matter.

that is the legal position anything else is just an interpretation but the legal reality is the only thing that makes a bill law or a person PM is the queens royal assent.

Taken from parliament.Uk, parliament’s official website

“The Prime Minister is the leader of the Government. He or she is the leader of the party that wins the most seats at a general election. After a general election the monarch calls upon the leader of the largest party to form the Government. The Prime Minister chooses the other Members of the Government and has a residence and offices at 10 Downing Street.”

as you can see the monarch calls upon the leader to form the govt all the rest is just convention.

I'm not disputing that the process is as you've described. What I'm saying is it's outdated and not needed.

No argument there but it’s impossible to do so because it being the monarch is the system. So you could never reform it as there simply is no means to do so.

It could be reformed but I don’t think there is any stomach for it any time soon, they still have majority support. Obviously the extreme end is a revolution which is highly unlikely in the UK barring some bizarre turn of events. However, if in the future the monarchy’s popularity took a turn for the worse (say after some scandals and rising inequality) and there were strong republican voices, then the monarchy could be forced to compromise its influence to save itself or abdicate. Unlikely for now, but not impossible.
